Weekend Football Thread. *spoilers* 26/27 Sept

I'd say Torres is the best striker in world football at the moment, I can't think of any strikers throughout Europe that are better. He's been a great goalscorer for Liverpool but he needs trophies if he's to stay for the rest of his career and go down as a Liverpool great.

I think Torres is in the top group of strikers in the world at the minute, along with Villa (I've been watching a few Valencia games this season and he scores some truly excellent goals) and a few more. I'd say they're all the best in the world, with each of them able to have top class games quite often, too hard to try and list them as 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc.

Certainly the best striker in the Premiership though with no doubt

For getting Eto'o?

The man has an incredibly scoring record, and is a real quality striker. Alright might not be too popular off the pitch ( Barcelona couldn't wait to get rid of him ) but that man knows how to score.

I dunno about Eto'o, I've never considered him amongst the very best and he was blessed to be playing in front of and next to the best creative players in the entire world (Messi, Xavi, Iniesta are all up there in the top 5 or so) which obviously gives you more opportunities to score than you know what to do with.

I've watched a couple of Inter games this season and he just doesn't seem that good, he can't create his own chances like Torres does pretty much every week and looks far from spectacular.

I dunno about Eto'o

Torres>>Etoo

Before you claim that a player is the "best in the world" in X position, you've got to look at who that player is up against in that position. So take the best players from that position and then make your decision, don't just base it on a handful of good games, that's what the media is for.

I'm not saying Torres isn't (don't burn me) I'm just saying, there are a lot of good players out there ;)

and as for villa>torres no way Jose!

How come when Villa and Torres play in the same spanish side, it's normally Villa who shines?

I'm not saying hes better, but even if Torres is better, it's so close you can't, really say one is better than the other.

I would just prefer Villa in my side because I have always liked him, and he doesn't seem to imitate Drogba as much as Torres does. :p

Also, isn't Casillas spanish, and in the Spanish league? Isn't he known to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world? And also, doesn't Kameni, etc.. play there? Not exactly a bad keeper either.

dude villa is small and gets bullied by bigger opponents, when he plays with torres torres opens them up and villa taps em in. id take torres>>villa any day.

Casillas is a one off... karemi isnt great, the rest are pretty bad. you cant just pick the best club and use that as a sole example, the rest of the teams have a very low standard defensively... why do you think there are so many goals in spain?
