Yeah but Fergie believed that playing Welbeck on the wing was a good idea, so not exactly that great when it comes to wingers is he
I can name you more good wingers he's bought than bad ones

Arshavin does OK starting on the wing and gets out-muscled by blades of grass sometimes.

Long time no see Nok. Welcome back
You have a well known Man Utd fan here to blame for bringing me back.
You have a well known Man Utd fan here to blame for bringing me back. I did admit that I missed all the United fans and Liverpool fans (and even a Chelsea fan, Leeds fan and a few others ) here a lot, so I'll keep posting back in sports.
Thanks Shamikebab .
I've always thought that Arshavin was pretty strong considering his tiny frame and holds off the opposition well
I'm not entirely sure I agree with you. I think the fact Ryan Giggs has been a consistent left-sided winger masks the number of poor wingers he's bought, or not necessarily poor, but those who haven't adapted. Players like Jordi Cryuff, Karel Poborsky, Jasper Blomqvist etc.. Then there are players like Fletcher and Park who 'do a job' when played there, but they don't exactly roast players out there.
As I said, Giggs consistently holding the left side for 15 years and Ronaldo on the right for 6 did disguise the ones before and after. We've never been short on those who perform, but in terms of quality we've always been short. From our current squad we have Nani who crosses the sublime with the ridiculous more than anyone I know, Tosic who has the build of a 10 year old, Valencia who I personally think is awful, Welbeck who I've never seen have a solid game (or more than a consistent 5 minutes - including the reserves).
Thankfully we have always had a real team effort mentality so these areas get covered by our wing-backs, central midfielders, and in the case of Rooney, forwards.
And no mention of me.
