Weekend Football Thread *spoilers be inside*

For some stupid reason I've stuck £5 on Portsmouth doing one over United.

Don't ask me why :p

Are you having an absolute laugh?

Call me biased or whatever but Chelsea's squad is way ahead of yours.

Only Arsenal players I'd actually want is Cesc and RVP

getting a draw or beating us?

Just heard RVP is out for at least 5 mths due to surgery...i guess thats our season finished or our title challenge is more or less finished unless Wenger buys a central forward similar to RVP but i cant see that happening.

Just our ****ing luck that we have 8 first team players out with injuries:(...i am hoping that despite these injuries we still mount a credible challenge but tommorrows match is pretty important...we lose and we lose more ground...at least with a draw or a win we can make up that ground...

Of course your biased;)...seeing as your a chelski supporter but out of your team...id only take Terry and maybe Drogba or Essien...Drogba if he stopped diving so much lol.

Also remember our squad is far more younger than yours, which are getting on a bit now arent they??.....soon they will be claiming their pensions:p

Our squad is older but if you believe that the arsenal squad at this moment are better than chelsea's then you are having a laugh.

Of course, I may also be biased. :)

Chelsea's first team is really good but beyond that the squad isn't that great.

Look at some of the first team squad: Turnbull, Sturridge, Matic, Belletti, Hutchinson, Ferreira. Half them aren't even internationals.

Compared with Arsenal's back ups: Bendtner, Ramsey, Eboue, Eduardo, Rosicky(?), Wilshere etc.

Arsenal have a good squad of good to very good players whereas Chelsea have an excellent first team but perhaps lack a bit of depth.

IMO! :)

See what you've done there is picked some of the poorer backups at Chelsea and compared them to the better ones at Arsenal.

I knew someone would say that because I was thinking it myself. :p Even if you add the likes of Malouda and Mikel I still think Arsenal have better depth. I could've added more Arsenal players (Vela? Gibbs?). Chelsea's squad isn't that big really so it's hard to name 8-10 back ups without mentioning players like Sturridge (who is nearly always on the bench I think?).

Gutted about RvP, absolute disaster.

In terms of squads, Arsenal's is great imo (being biased) but I wouldn't say better or worse than Chelsea's over all as I believe they have some better first XI's, so about even, but you'd expect Arsenal's to get better mainly and Chelsea's to get worse (age). That said, Chelsea have unlimited funds and will no doubt express that this winter, when Chelsea will buy a few stars and the balance would be tipped to them.

I think Chelsea wouldn't mind Sagna, Arshavin, Fab, RvP, Vermaelen all in their first XI, they've all been excellent this year barring Arsh. This is going to sound mad to most, but Song has been as good as Essien this year I think, Song has been motm many times in an Arsenal team that can't stop scoring which means he must be working hard to shine ahead of the stars. By the way I think Essien is overall the best complete CM in the world so I wouldn't say that lightly

God damnit, will we not have some kind of thorough investigation of our entirely useless medical staff, either its crap physio's, crap doctors, someones entirely crap and someone is responsible for it. How many times do we misdiagnose problems and have niggling small injuries turn into whole seasons out.

The question is, other than the fact he would have had the surgery immediately, a more serious injury would have been taken more seriously, for all they know moving around on it when it should have been operated on for, almost two weeks, could have made it significantly worse in the first place.

I don't like excuses being made though, 8 first team players out, horse crap. Is it 3 right now, I'm so bored with looking at every player who might start a game eventually and counting them as first team. We've got 8 injuries in the SQUAD, 3 of which would be starters in Clichy, RVP and Gallas, if he is injured. Bendtner is no where near a certain starter, though with RVP out he probably would have. At least Bendtners only two weeks away, hopefully, but meh, he's not a good lone striker, neither is Eduardo, together in a 4-4-2 they work very well, Eduardo and Bendtner are no where near as effective out on the wing either.

Comparing Song to Essien and saying he's been almost as good, is embarassing for everyone involved. Not least because when Essien runs absolute rings around Song, people will laugh at you, nor because Song played in the Chelsea game last year, where he was abysmal, had rings run around him and chelsea utterly thrashed us.

Song as good as Essien? Reallllllly? Did I reallllllllllllllly just read that?

I'm going to assume you've not watched all of Arsenal's games, that's fine. I said he's played as well as him over the last few months, shortly before saying Essien is the best complete mid in the world overall. Don't act so shocked  and you paraphrase and put words in my mouth, I don't think Song is as good as Essien.

Would you like to know something interesting about the effect of signing a new manager?

There was an expirement (if that's the right word) in to the effect of signing a new manager during the season, over just over 10 seasons I think.

+3/4 points, is all a new manager would offer you a season on average :p

Unless that manager is Harry Redknapp....

:p

LOL its funny how you just put 2 and 2 together and made 5:rolleyes:...i didnt say that Arsenal have a better squad than Chelski...i said we have a younger squad compared to your OAP's...big difference in words there i never said i believed, i just said we have a younger squad than you lot do...stop twisting my words to suit your replies...its not smart nor big fella:)

Of course im not as biased as you Chelski lot as i freely admit that at the moment Chelski have a much better and stronger squad.

Song has been good this season but he's some way behind Essien, who's one of the best CMs in the world.

*sigh* which is what Jakeke was more or less saying.

Song has been absolutley brilliant this season and the great thing is that he can only get better with age;)...but hes not as good as Essien yet...he may get better than him but at the moment Essien is one of the best CM's in the game.
