Weekly Playstation Store Update thread

Still waiting for the MGS4 theme to go on UK PSN. :(((

It is up

Love it personally, all the other custom themes I've downloaded in the past I've keep for a whole 30 seconds before changing back to the default theme but the MGS4 one is really simple and elegant.

The changing wallpaper is a little annoying (there's about 5 different ones which the console randomly assigns one off at every start up) as there's on particular one that looks stunning on my TV but that's no real biggie as how much time do you spend looking at the home screen? :p

What does everyone think of Commando 3? I thought the single player was pretty decent (love the fact your multiplier increases for high scores too, until you get hit of course). Had a game of 3 player online last night which was fun and quite frantic (until the network went down or something on the 3rd map) :)

8/10 from me (64% from metacritic though). Some of these retro games are awesome!! :)

Nice sig. Why don't they make them like DOTT anymore :(

I'll have to check that again. I'm blind lol. Thought it was only on U.S store at the mo.

I got this months qore episode, its far better than the first, the adds are skipable (once loaded) and victoria belmont in a mo cap suit making the chimera dance is nice.:D
There is also a Naruto Demo, but you have to log onto your US PSN account to download it. All in all the 2nd one is a vast improvement over the first in content and it still has a silly game of pong if you press L2 on the menu.

So, todays exciting update:-

PS3 Fanboy RSS Feed said:
Fairly small list of content today, but at least there's something worth purchasing. Both the PS3 and PSP versions (don't forget that each include different levels) of Echochrome are now available to grab at fairly decent prices. If you're not interested in that, however, there's not a lot else to see here. Movement continues this week with the second part of episode 1, which includes more French tomfoolery and another couple of bands from the country. Here's the full release list:

Playable Content
• Echochrome full game for PS3 (£6.99/€9.99)
• Echochrome full game for PSP (£4.99/€7.99)
• Top Spin 3 demo (free)
Add-on Content
• High Velocity Bowling "Amber Yarhees" character pack (£0.69/€0.99)
Videos
• Echochrome trailer
• Movement episode 1 part 2 (8 videos)
• Kung Fu Panda trailer

Is the PSP Echochrome the same as the retail PSP game cause the price difference is massive!? (£17.99 online for retail vs £4.99 on PSN)

Was hoping for the SSHD teamplay expansion this week but oh well :(

Difference in levels and amount of levels I think.

Hmmm, Bionic Commando will support remote play!

Capcom has outline some of the "PSN specific" content in the upcoming remake Bionic Commando: Rearmed in a PlayStation.Blog post. There is DualShock 3 support, along with another confirmation of Remote Play support, and one "VERY cool surprise" which will be revealed later.

An interesting feature disclosed is called Medals. There will be 12 to collect, with different types to suit different play styles, "from brawlers to thinkers." For example, a Pacifist Pride medal will be awarded when the player clears any area without firing your gun. Finally, the post highlights the character Haley, pictured above, and a weapon, the 13-gauge "Hagle Breaker" Assault Shotgun. You can even post questions in the comments section of the PlayStation.Blog post, and Capcom may give an answer in their next update.

We think it is safe to say the biggest question on everyone's mind is, do Medals = trophies?

EDIT: But no trophies!

The upcoming 1942 and Bionic Commando PSN games are not going to support trophies, according to a statement by Capcom PR Manager Tim Ng. Many speculated after a recent PlayStation.Blog post that the upcoming downloadable Bionic Commando title would support PS3's Achievement-esque Trophy system. Considering how popular they are for Super Stardust HD, we really hoped Capcom would've been able to add these shiny accomplishments into their games. Perhaps they'll reconsider for future titles down the line

read some of the comments in the playstation blog, looks hopeful for future support (response to comment 2):

It was too late into development to add trophy support at this time, however, Ben assures me that we’ll have this feature for BCR in the near future!

Also, I can answer some questions for BCR, but I will let Ben Judd answer most of the questions here. He’ll choose a good number of quetions to answer and we’ll post them up on the next BCR update.

I’ll try and answer some of your other questions!
