Weekly Playstation Store Update thread

What is the deal with Siren: Blood Curse, I saw the full game for €29.99 and 3 bundles of 4 episodes of €9.99 each.

Does that mean that in total the game costs €69.95  or can you buy separate episodes without the full game?

As has been posted in a new thread, Pixeljunk Eden is out, and as for the whole list....

SCEE has come through for us this week. PixelJunk Eden is here, in the form of both a demo and the full game. There's also a demo of Echochrome Micro for PSP owners, a smattering of game videos and the next episode of Movement. But really, that's all secondary to Eden and the glittering trophies contained within. At £4.99 (an almost direct translation from the US price of $9.99) it's a bargain. Here's the full release list:

Playable content

PixelJunk Eden full game (£4.99/€7.99)
PixelJunk Eden demo (free)
Echochrome Micro demo for PSP (free)
Videos

E3 2008 PSP compilation

Prince of Persia E3 gameplay trailer
The Last Guy trailer
Movement episode 3 part 1 "Milan" (5 videos)
Themes and Wallpapers

Bionic Commando Rearmed wallpaper

I wanted some shooty goodness personally, like 1942 or Novastrike at last... oh well, maybe next week! ;)

So where's the bloody Tiger Woods demo promised?!
Sony need to think of something to bolster their store updates, even just a steady stream of PSOne games would make it look a little more respectable.

Don't waste money on 1942. By all accounts it is a 30-60 minute game with no replay value. (Buy the 360 version if you really want to play it now). I buy a lot of PSN games, but I can honestly say I have played all of them for hours at least. This sounds like really poor value tbh.

I found the same thing with Commando.
I completed it on my first go on the standard difficulty, and only lost one life.
I'll still doubtless pick up 1942 when it comes. I play the original all the time on my PSP Capcom Classics pack! Looking forward to the PSN Bionic Commando at some point too, and the UK release of Novastrike, not to mention Wipeout HD of course ;) (My 360 went ages ago so PSN it is for me)

After a months-long delay supposedly caused by failing seizure tests, it seems like WipEout HD is finally ready to debut on the PSN. The long-awaited HD follow-up to the PSP games, WipEout Pure and WipEout Pulse have many excited. One quick look at the game reveals exactly why: it is gorgeous, fast and absolutely breathtaking. We got a chance to play the upcoming downloadable title, and we limped away, impressed by the presentation and the absolutely visceral racing experience.

Yes, the game runs at a silky smooth 60fps. Yes, the texture work is fantastic. However, the technical achievements shouldn't overlook the game's great sense of style. While many of these tracks will familiar to PSP owners, they come to life with a brand new level of detail that the handheld simply couldn't pull off. There are all sorts of visual treats scattered across the tracks, and in your ship's HUD as well. The newly redesigned HUD is more dynamic than ever, distorting from nearby attacks, shaking during collisions, etc. Entering first-person mode will increase the sensation of really being in a supersonic vehicle even further.

One mode we're particularly impressed with this time around is the newly revamped HD Zone mode. Zone was one of the best modes from the PSP games, and this time it's back with a few enhancements. While Pure featured high-contrast tracks, Pulse added a bit more color to make it more visually appealing. HD takes it a step further with music synchronized textures on the tracks themselves. The music you're listening to will dynamically change the look of the track as you race along it, and as your ship gets progressively faster with each zone you enter, the color scheme of the entire world may suddenly morph all around you. It's stunning and absolutely must be experienced. Speed freaks will be glad to hear that speeds in Zone now reach "Zen," a level far beyond the Phantom levels offered in previous games.
