Weekly Playstation Store Update thread

I have had the demo for a while now from a torrent and it runs on 5.00 M33-2 I have

Ah well, the "official" one from the PSN won't.
It just gives me an error that 5.02 is required.

I think you can make M33 lie about what version it really is. Can't remember exactly how.

Fair enough.

I aren't that fussed to be honest. As much as I'd like to play the demo, I'll probably just be buying this one on release day anyway. I'll look at Alex's page in a day or two, and see if there's an update, otherwise, never mind.
Mind you, would be a bugger if the full game needed 5.02 and there was no M33 update ;) Still, it's just a matter of time, of course :)

Vin.

Ah, thanks very much.

I hope the original UMD doesn't complain about my firmware version when I get it though lol still, as I said, M33 WILL get updated at some point, no worries... in the meantime, I'll download that version of the demo now.

Cheers,
Vin.

Generally when a big game comes out it starts the wheels turning on the M33 front again. (It happened for Crysis Core IIRC).

All the small updates aren't worth the effort, but I'm sure you'll see one if it's required for this.

I think that's more Capcom's fault tbh, judging by the numerous complains on the US forums, the game has an awful lot of bugs.
Could just be that SCEE QA is a lot more stringent than SCEA's.

I don't care if it has netcode problems. I just want the damn game and the patch can come later.
When the game is out on Live and the US and Asian equivalent stores of PSN, there is defo a problem with the certification process at SCEE and Sony Computer Entertainment as a whole, submitting the game 3 times is just ridiculous. They should have a model in place like MS where it is submitted once for Live.

I also wonder if its being delayed down to Sonys all games released from Jan 09 have to have Trophies?

Surely making the trophies the same as the achievements isn't hard to do. Capcom have also said it has been submitted to SCEE and its now down to them when it appears on the store.

Thanks again for this.

I just got around to trying it, and I absolutely love it.
I was almost gutted when I destroyed that big thing at the end of the demo, and the message came up to tell me that's it.

So, I just fired my laptop up to log on and say thanks again for that, and also to go preorder my copy now.

I was in two minds, as of whether to wait, and see if they release it on the PSN. I expect they will do, but the problem is, at what price? I love download distribution, like the PSN and Steam, but sometimes they just take the pee with the pricing. At least with the M33 firmware I still have the main benefit, that I can run the game from the memory stick, and enjoy vastly improved/almost non-existant loading times, not have to take the disk with me, and also get better battery life, but at the same time, I'd also like to support digital downloads, in the hope they make more of them.
I like that the PS3 has Burnout Paradise and GT5p available from the PSN, I just wish there were more. I love that, like on my PC, I can have games on my PS3/PSP, all installed, and no need to go find the disk to play them.
I paid an extra few quid for GT5p off the PSN, and I've paid a few extra quid to Steam for games like Crysis Warhead, for the convenience, but sometimes they really take the pee with the pricing.

Best I've seen for this is £17.99, from two pretty well known shops. I assume the PSN download will be closer to £30? (if there is one) so I'll consider myself lucky that I have M33 firmware, and will be able to install it, and just shove the disk on the shelf with the rest, never to be used again ;)

Anybody seen it cheaper than £18?

What's with most shops I checked showing the release date as July 09? Just rainforest are saying March 27....hmmmm, that's Killzone 2, Resi 5 and Resistance Retribution all coming up in the next month odd. I've a bunch of games on the shelf, so far unplayed, and I seem unable to tear myself away from Patapon lol What's going wrong? ;)

Anybody else like the Resistance Retribution demo, and going to buy it?
By the way, is the demo on the PSN the same as the one provided above?

Vin.

I downloaded sf2 hd remix from the us psn ages ago, it really is a disgrace they haven't released it over here yet, I'm very glad I didn't wait.

Hi guys, I got a PS3 last weekend, really great, but I'm not quite sure how the store works.

Do you buy points to buy things with, like on Xbox Live?

And, when you buy something can you delete and download it again as much as you want?

Thanks!

No points, you load your 'wallet' with real money, minimum £5 I think. Just go to buy something and it will probably tell you what to do.

AFAIK you can download them as many times as you like.
