dmpoole said:5 weeks ago I was the fattest I've ever been in my 49 years of life but I am quite a fit person and I've done 8 marathons. My problem is that I have a metabolism rate of 1300 which means if I eat 1300 calories and stay in bed all day I won't add any weight on or lose any. Compare that with the average of 2200 and you can see that I can't eat much. I work with a woman who has a metabolism of 1000but we all know other people who can eat loads and never put 1lb on.
Anyway, 5 weeks ago my 'fat' trousers were getting tight and I'm known for always wearing shorts while I'm singing but the truth was I couldn't get in them so something had to give.
My diet now consists of bananas, grapes, mackerel, tomatoes, chicken and apples during the working day and a nice sunday dinner when I get home consisting of brussel sprouts, cauliflower, brocolli and a couple of taters.
I also run 3 miles home after work and then do 100 crunches when I get in.
Anyway, I don't do weight, I do what you look like in a mirror.
Believe me I've had experiences of watching weight scales and I'll never do it again and doing exercise and losing weight doesn't always go hand in hand.
If you do anaroebic exercise you're going to build muscle and muscle weighs heavier than fat.
Here is a picture I took today of my belt.
5 weeks ago I was on the top hole and theres an inch between each hole so I've lost just over 5" off my waist.

Well done mate, that's a big achievement. I know what you mean about not doing scales, although I do weigh myself I understand that I can't just use that as an indicator. My BMI for my height (5'11") says I am overweight but obviously that doesn't take your build into account.
BTW, how do you work out your metabolic rate? I'm interested to know what mine is.

MNuTz said:Reading in mens health this month, it states that cardio is not the best form of exercise to lose weight, instead you must vary your exercise for the most benefit.
geeza said:yeh, its good to mix it up but personally ive watched the pounds drop off me when running and swimming combined with not doing what i did last night and having 6 pints of strongy and a take-away!
