I had a great dream last night....

I dreamt I was stuck on tropical island with a group of survivors from a plane crash, but we weren't alone, we were attacked by a hostile group of islanders. Of course we were fighting back, while trying to explore the island. While exploring the island I found a disused vehicle and weapons plant, which had the facilities for us to design and build our own weapons and vehicles.

This is where it started getting weird.

My dream then cut what can only be described a cross between "Lost" and the 80's Childrens program "Stop The Pigeon" (with Dick Dastardly and Mutley) where I was inventing some of the most stupid flying machines imaginable and trying to fly them. At one point I'd developed a Helocopter called....(yes, you've guessed it) A Roflcopter, which was powered by....(yes, you've guessed it) laughter, I'd also developed an item to help us get around the island faster they were called.... lolerskates.

This dream was getting progressivley dafter when I think I woke myself up laughing .

Anyone else have any weird dreams lately?

Last night i dreamt about being in a small town sort of... at war..

I just remember starting to panick at the end because we were getting over run.. and had to keep on "falling back"

Was more of a scary dream that weird. Kinda weird though.. some of it seemed surreal but cant really remember details.

Yes, the other night I had a nice dream but when I woke up my sheets were soaked.

Any ideas?

I've been reading a lot of Jung recently, and to sum up one of his main ideas very quickly, he thought that dreams represented the unconcious mind attempting to contact the concious mind.
He also thought that whilst themes ran through dreams, art, culture and thought (archetypes from the collective unconcious) that a dream was individual and would do his best to allow his clients to find the meaning within the own dreams rather than have a professional lecture them on what their dreams meant.

The only dream I have had within the last 6 months (that has left a harsh memory) was one where I had a confrontation with a shadowy figure. I'd been reading up on some of Jung's theories and to me that meant that I was ready to confront the side of myself that I didn't want to own up to. And I have, including the anger I didn't want to own, the insecurity, the compassion, the emotion and I am glad I did.

On a serious note a thread here awhile back spoke of Lucid dreaming, since that thread I can now successfully Lucid dream once a week :) - It's fantastic :D

I was just reading about lucid dreaming on Wikipedia yesterday, strange.

I have been having really vivid dreams lately, i think it's because i've been eating Muller Rices.....I'm serious, we bought 12 of them because they were on offer at Morrissons. I've been eating 1 a day, around 9pm, and every night i've been having vivid dreams :p

I was dreaming of being woken up at 4am by loud music from my housemates room, I was really annoyed for some reason, ah yeah I know why, I had an exam the next morning.

Ok wait it wasn't a dream. ******* ******* is all I can say...

I dreamed last night that me and a bunch of friends I rarely see any more were going to a theatre to see Billy Connolly. We went in to the lobby, showed our tickets and were told our seats were upstairs. I went for a drink and used the lift- which went diagonally up to the top through the floors and was operated by this really good looking girl with an angry look on her face.

When I got to the top floor our "seats" were a giant circle of wood covered with a carpet. The circle was balanced on top of a giant column of concrete in a room about 4 floors high with no supports round the side and it turned into a vertigo dream where you're terrified of falling but keep going towards the edge regardless. Woke up on the edge of the bed, almost slipping off :(

I had a dream, where I remembered a dream from ages ago? Or it felt like that anyway.

I was in my house and stood in the backroom window watching the night sky, looked really thundery/smokey bellowing around and over came these bombers in formation just flattening my town. I woke up when they flew over, didnt fancy getting a bomb land on me.

I just read that lucid dreaming thing on wikipedia and it sent a chill down my spine  It says that light switches are good reality checks...

I had a really bad recurring nightmare where I couldnt control what was happening when I was about 8 or 9. I dreamt that I woke up in my bed, all seemed really realistic, tried to turn the light on and it blew. As soon as that happened I knew I was in the dream and it was the most terrifying dream I've ever experienced. It happened on and off for a couple weeks. :(

last night i had a dream i was in the mafia , and part of the dream was about me trying to get my money of the don for a job i did, i think it was killing a rival mobs leader, i remember speaking to the dons brother about how i don't want to press him to much because i have seen what happens in goodfellas.

The dream then turned surreal involving huge animals with guns and tanks in a world war type battle in a open field.

I spent a month trying to achieve lucidity, and never succeeded. Perhaps I'll try it again some time...

Phate, is that a gentle way of telling us that you wet the bed?

Rubber sheets for you me laddio....

;)

I just read this on wikipedia, Its exactly what happened to me:

False awakenings: In a false awakening, one suddenly dreams of having been awakened. Commonly in a false awakening the room is identical to the room that the person fell asleep in, with several small subtle differences. If the person was lucid, he/she often believes that he/she is no longer dreaming, and may start exiting their room etc. Since the person is actually still dreaming, this is called a "false awakening". This is often a nemesis in the art of lucid dreaming because it usually causes people to give up their awareness of being in a dream, but it can also cause someone to become lucid if the person does a reality check whenever he/she awakens. People who keep a dream journal and write down their dreams upon awakening sometimes report having to write down the same dream multiple times because of this phenomenon.

After the above happened to me I'd perform a reality check (switching the light on) and then I'd know I was dreaming, but couldnt wake myself up... then the nightmare just continued and got worse... I could never get out of it, even when I knew I was in the dream :(

Takes more than a month ;)

Takes a lot of effort and hard work, but once you can go into lucidity, it's simply amazing.

You can do anything.

ANYTHING!!!

I dreamt that I was responsible for the end of the world, I caused a flood by waking sleeping Cthulu accidentally in a dream within the dream.

Damn weird but I quite enjoyed it...after I woke up :)
