Weird sounds at night

Been hearing them on/off all night, they were fireworks.

A lot been going off in the day to, not sure why :confused:

I was awake very early this morning and heard what sounded like two gunshots just prior to 3:45am.

Given that I live in Nottingham and I saw more Police activity this morning than normal they probably were gunshots.
 
Actually yes. I was woken up at 1:10am precisely by what sounded like a couple of short loud pops. I got up to look around the house expecting a door was banging in the wind (it wasnt windy).

It didn't sound much like a sonic boom which is a deeper longer sound than this. What i heard was a sharper higher pitch pop is how i would describe it. Loud enough to wake me from a deep sleep.

Only when i saw some wacky article talking about loud bangs in Croydon that I remembered. Not so wacky now.

I'm a few miles south of Croydon in Surrey.
 
I woke up to it as well in West Sussex. I was in a bit of a daze and thought a party was ending with fireworks. Then I looked at the clock and thought it was very late for a party to end, especially for late Sunday/early Monday.

At the time it reminded me of the clay pigeon shooting they do but far more frequent in the bangs with less of a pause.

A brief consultation with my demnon psychic weather guardian suggests that we are in fact due a massive incursion of Exploding False Widow Spiders as punishment for the wanton stupidity of Black Friday.
