Well I fell down the custom keyboard world.

Anyone have any experience with 'mode' keycaps? They say they're a blend of ABS and PBT. Just have a relatively simple greyscale set I might be interested in is all.

The Anthracite ones I guess? Look nice they do! No experience of them though but I have a cheap "that shopping place" set that compares very well with a not cheap set so I think I'm in the if you like it aesthetically then no worries camp....

Edit - Doh I looked and all three sets are greyish but yeah they all look nice lol

It's that set, yes. Agree, price for the set seemed low (?) which made me query the brand. I've got a cool grey ZoomTKL coming at some point that I'm yet to find caps for, so keep looking every so often.

Sorry, I wasn't saying those caps are cheap I just meant I do have some cheap ones that compare very favourably with some that are well over twice the price. On that experience alone I'm thinking the mode ones will be plenty fine enough....

Just had a delivery :) I wasn't expecting it until tomorrow, so I still need to finish lubing my switches and am also out this evening seeing family, so not going to be able to start putting it together.

I expect I will have lots of questions tomorrow!

Got a parcel from China- a Tester84 that I'd totally forgot I ordered :D Going to leave it unmodded, plop some MMD Holy Pandas and budget keycaps in it, see what's what.

Just the Qk80 to arrive now later this year (hopefully). Really need to stop now-no more space on my keyboard shelf!

Nice. Can't wait to see it. The ZoomTKL was certainly on my list of units to try at some point but sadly the first version only supported ANSI plus I am trying to keep my collection relatively small if I can. Still waiting on 4 boards to hopefully arrive this month so that should be a fun build session at some point for me.

Hopping in with my build I've had for the past few years and I'd still change nothing! (I have yellow esc/arrow keys currently as I have the full keycap set).

It's a Graystudio Think 6.5 keyboard (65%, polycarb, brass weights on underside and right-hand side, hotswap, usb-c) with Holy Panda switches (self-lubed and custom springs), GMK stabs, keycaps are MT3 Serika.

I am now trying to lube my stabilisers. Happy that they are straight and don't need tuning, but don't think I am getting the amount of lube required right. I was happy lubing the switches, this I am not so sure about!

Thanks, so the video I am following is this:

My stabilisers clip in differently to that in the video, mine clip into the position I have marked with 'A', whereas the ones in the video seem to clip into the top, where 'B' is? I assume it's a difference between plate and PCB mounted stabilisers?

I suspect there is an element of experiment here - I was able to lube the switches, being sparing with the amount of lube used (Tribosys 3203 as the switches are tactiles) but if I use a similar amount of Krytox 205G0 as in the video on my stems and stabilisers, the whole lot becomes a bit of a slippery mess!

I'm not sure how much you can see in the photo I have taken of the ones I've done so far?

It's just upside down that's all, all PCB's clip or screw in differently depending on the plates they use. It doesn't affect performance of the stabs in any way.

Honestly it does look a little over lubed, you only want a small amount like a slight sheen on the stem sides and the same on the inside of the stab housings. The point is to stop frictional noise and increase smoothness. The stab wires i do the same as him, i dip mine in Electric grease https://www.mechmods.co.uk/collecti...atex-dielectric-grease?variant=43055668723935

Just a small amount at the end of the stab wires and then plug the butt with a needle. I've had the best results doing this, the stabs feel smooth and no rattles while not feeling stuck or sticky/slow.
