Well I fell down the custom keyboard world.

Quite happy with that. Fitted with hand lubed Epomaker Sea Salt linears and 80g springs. Probably deserves more premium keycaps, but I don't have any ISO sets in anything other than SA profile, and I quite like the red. Also didn't realise the spacebar is 7U!

Not looked in here for some time, having stopped buying keyboards and reducing my collection.

I do however have a Class60 in Beige coming very soon!

Question for all custom keyboard havers.
Is there a big upgrade say if i change my og k70 cherry reds to a keychron Q5 Pro other than the looks?
It will probably sound a little better, I think its a full metal housing. Depending on which switches, keycaps and mods you choose to have a crack at, will refine it further.

Q series are machined aluminum, yes. You'd probably need a quick force break mod but the rest depends on plate (I think it's steel by default), foam, caps and switches as said.

The answer is probably yes, you would notice the difference but it might be a (fun) journey to get there so worth some research.

Ordered the Q5 Pro ANSI with banana switches. It was fun but overwhelming googling all the terminology. Will have a read on the many keycap topics next.
I just checked my k70 and it was brown and not red as I originally thought.

Do give us all a shout if you get overwhelmed, its not too bad once you get the hang of it.

The keyboard finally arrived. You guys were right. I have been missing out lol. Feels 100% better compared to my old k70.
The fast switch between mac/windows means I dont need to have 2 keyboards for work and gaming.
Still getting used to the new layout.

Anyone know if there are keycaps that have a split label for Option/Alt and Command/WinKey ?

Worth having a look here, you might find what you need. I think i can link this...

Finding myself ordering Keycaps I like the look of, then realising I potentially need a new Keeb when they eventually arrive...

GMK Mercury just turned up.

Ordered a Qk75N earlier, looks an interesting design but sadly not via
It's annoying they don't offer ISO or wireless with VIA. I like the QK80, but I always set Macros for some of the ridiculously long email addresses I have to use for work, and try as I might, I cannot get an "@" in a macro output using the proprietary software with my UK/ISO model. Which is a shame as everything else about the TKL is perfect for my job (IT with a bit of coding).

I keep a 96% for work stuff, getting into a bit of coding myself at work recently for network automation

All of these pictures are really putting me to shame. I've got a keychron k2, I thought that was nice. I genuinely had not appreciated what a rabbit whole this might be.

Got a Q6 pro this week. Swapped out the red switches I got in it for some Gateron Silver Pros, and the keycaps for some Akko white ASA profile shine through. Did the tape and force break mods, along with lubing the switches and stabilisers. It's miles ahead of the aging blackwidow X Chroma it's replaced. If I'd have known how easy thi was going to bew, I'd have done this a long time ago.

Happens to all of us, you go into it thinking you'll do it on the cheap and be happy then you realise you want more and more and before you know it you're a few grand into the hobby and enough boards to last a lifetime . This is exactly why i left the hobby for awhile to do other stuff and just gonna patiently wait for my GB's to land instead of dumping more money into an already very saturated market.

Oh dear, PT had 40% off anything in-stock yesterday for a short period..

Ended up with a Jris75 and a sudden need to learn how to solder.
