I'm talking about how they play ideally. There isnt another side in the PL that can play with the same passing flair. True at the moment they aint living up to that. But i can remember when they were (obviously some have better memories than others). At the moment their obvious weaknesses are....obvious. But to remember only the bad games and judge them harshly on that is rather shortsighted...
YEs there is, loads of teams on their best days can play great passing football.
Anyway one of the "best" things Arsenal did during the winning years was fast counter attacking, and fast attacking, its pretty simple that its easier to score when 3-4 attackers are running at the defence, rather than the defence, the midfield and maybe the striker aswell.
Plenty of teams try to play passing football, this idea that Wenger somehow has the ability and has managed to teach Fabregas to pass is laughable.
Most of our best moves and best goals come out of great passing for one real reason, Fabregas is probably the best passer of the football in the world.
A different manager wouldn't cause Fabregas to forget how to pass. AS someone said, we play tippy tappy slow ass, can't find a way past the defence football FAR more often than our "best" football, and we usually play our best football against the worst teams. Again something all other sides do aswell. Fulham vs Spurs, Fulham were fantastic, start to finish, they played "Arsenal" football.
Most managers given our squad would play exactly the same way, firstly who would we get, Rijkard maybe....... he's rubbish at passing football isn't he, Huddink.
Do people honestly think, firstly that Rijkard is somehow a worse manager than Wenger, or that we'd drop Wenger and bring in, Fat Sam, or Gregson?
Theres a half dozen managers out there who are as good as Wenger at his best, theres probably a couple dozen that would play the same football but actually win stuff than Wenger in his current state of denial.
He's pretty much said, since finally giving up on the title, that we have the quality but we need more depth.......... which highly suggests again that he thinks Denilson, Diaby, Kos, Sagna, etc, are all good enough.
The longer he stays, the worse and worse his overall time as Arsenal manager gets. Basically he can leave now, of his own accord and have a decent but not great record, or he can heap more crap players on the club, continue to hand out improved contracts to players that don't deserve it, get fired in a couple years and no one will remember the good years anymore.
