Went to look at an Impreza today...

In my opinion the Sexiest skyline has to be the KPGC110 GTR.





I think the 32 is the best of the 90's Skylines, I agree with the positive things mentioned in this thread. It's just a shame that movies like The Fast and the Furious glorified the skyline and turned them into a sought after car, rather than a fun family sleeper before hand.

I love the 32's front coupled with the 33's rear.

They have a such a road presence and to be honest, they're not that big compared to other cars.

I love the Skyline to a point, although it's too "fast and furious" now for me :(
 
lol, yes but thats like saying the Lancia Delta Integrale is dated looking or the Escort Cosworth or any other rally road cars that are purpose built for the time they came from compared to modern cars.

Whereas the R32 Skyline is simply a dated looking Japaneese saloon car modelled along the lines of many other saloon cars of the day, but with an awesome performance reputation

Each to their own at the end of the day. R34 all the way for me, looks lovely.

I think the only skyline i've liked is an R33 you posted ages ago. A heavily modded black one. Maybe it caught fire at a track day? Can't really remember. It looked nice though.

Hahahaha...You do know about the Skyline's racing history, right?

It won at Bathurst so they changed the rules and made it run heavier.

So your reason for the GTI-R being exempt from the 'old Japanese car' slating is it's motorsport 'pedigree' but the R32, with a more distinguished race history than the Sunny/Pulsar is slated...Riiiiiiight...

When was I commenting on it's race heritage?

I said it was designed like loads of other saloon cars of the day and nothing special to look at

Yeah I understand that, but the Pulsar is uninspired chasis to begin with which is then unavoidably redesigned in GTI-R form to meet it's rallying requirements (intake for intercooler, spoiler down downforce etc)

Where as the Skyline just happened to look like the cars of the time because thats what the designers were aiming at, and since that was about 16-17 years ago - it looks dated.

Thats what I meant.

The Skyline is an average car to begine with which is then redesigned in GTR form to meet it's racing requirements (engine, drivetrain, chassis, aerodynamic package, suspension...

Where as the Skyline just happened to look like the cars of the time because thats what the designers were aiming at, and since that was about 16-17 years ago - it looks dated.

The exact same thing applies to the GTI-R. It looks like an early 90s hatchback with a bodykit because that is what it is. The GTR looks like a late eighties saloon with a bodykit because that what it is.

The integrale and cosworth are dated looking. They, just like the Skyline, are standard cars with bodykit additions, just as the Pulsar is.

They are all, ultimately, late 80's/early 90's shopping cars with performance addons.

Doesn't mean people can't like/dislike the way they look, I just found it ironic that you criticised the R32 while having the pulsar there, because they suffer exactly the same thing.

I dont find it ironic, the R32 look horrificly ugly in my book, big overhanging panels on wheels that always look too small, the Sunny isnt pretty but its brutally functional it how it looks and it well proportioned.

Do like the R33 and R34s, but the 32 does nothing for me.

That's subjective though...All the the cars being discussed (Escort Cosworth, Sunny GTI-R, Skyline GTR and Delta Integrale) are standard saloons or hatches with functional additions which does make it ironic.

Your personal opinion on the above does not change the fact that they are all 'modified', range-topping equivelants of very mundane cars.

But that's a criticism of the car itself, rather than saying you don't like it because it just looks like a normal car with a bodykit.

That's where the irony comes for me.

None of the cars listed go in the "pretty" category, and if it wasn't for their reputation for other things, would probably be laughed at something chronic, to dismiss one because it looks like a car with a bodykit while embracing another on that basis is where the irony comes in.
