We're in the local news!

Ah this thread brings back the old days feel/memories, I remember you joker/mmx. I even bought things off of Spie as well from the Money Market back in the day. I wonder how many folks are still around from before the great forums purge/restart?

On a more serious note I have found the pricing to be up and down but that's normal for any company selling. I have though not had greatest of experiences with customer services at times, I have found the lack of options and willingness to help to be bare at times. But I also admit that this is well... normal these days.

I have had other retailers to be darn right rude and ignoring even product warranties so OCUK isn't the worst.

Also I will at least say your accessibility to starting a return or support enquiry is at least not buried under crappy systems and multiple pages deep to find. A very major retailer related to a forest in South American is frankly shocking to deal with even when its them selling the item.

Thank you for the positive words everyone.

Since I've joined Overclockers UK back in April 2008, I've seen quite a lot, internally and externally, I've seen the company move buildings a few times, I've seen people come and go. I have to admit when I first joined there was so much I wanted to improve.

And, I am proud to say that myself and others in the company have driven the company in a direction, a direction we're happy with, which we hope customers will be happy with. And so far, it's really working, it really is.

I am proud to be a part of such a great team of people who has committed so much into the company to make it what it is today. And I cannot say that it is just the Overclockers UK team that has done it, it is also you guys too! The community is definitely a strong one, and I have to say this forum is probably one or if not the most influential PC hardware forum in the world. And that is it's self is amazing.

So this is just a thanks, thanks to everyone on this forum for contributing, whether it is asking a question, or helping someone else out on the forum.

As mentioned before, I am always around, along with many other staff. So any issues, no matter what it is, I can help or at least point you in the right direction. :)

Didn't OCUK change when 5UB joined focussing on Customer Support?

I was lucky because I could just walk in the shop even though the buggers used to be 400 yards from me and then moved about 6 mile. I don't think it was OCUK support being bad in a Watchdog type way, it was the communication that was bad. Walk in the shop and you didn't have a problem.

Communications are always hard, I work in a IT service delivery team that has face to face meetings with staff. Its easy to understand the difference that the customer experiences when dealing with remote support services.

I think the worst feeling that a customer can have is being treated like just another call or problem. They just want to be wanted treated like a human, which can be hard in support roles as the customer is generally coming from a negative point to customer support and customer support has to take it on board and turn it around and try to make it a possible outcome for the customer while meeting company targets.

Its not a easy task, I used to work on a helpdesk where it was log and pass. It used to **** the customers off something rotten as we couldn't really help them much. But when your shifting 800 calls a day over 7 people it ends up being about throughput per hour rather than treating each one like a human.

I do not miss being in a helpdesk role any longer, your empathy levels for customers drains very fast after many upset customers lash out.

Yes, OCUK can be pricey, compared to competition.

However, being a member on here, getting free delivery, usually evens the prices out or beats the competition. Plus, OCUK has a far better customer support (with their staff active in the forum) and the staff know what they are selling and what they are talking about.

I don't religiously shop with OCUK, however I always recommend them because of their excellent service and great support network in this forum.

And finally, who else sends you free Haribo with an order?

Hi all just having a browse and came across this thread, have been a member on here for a short while compered to some by the sound of things.

I can only comment on my own experience have found OCUK to be the best place to come for advice, price when purchasing anything PC related, the forum is always the first place I look for any help or advice as I class myself as a newbie to PC building, gaming. The knowledge base is astounding and I've always found other forum members to polite and helpful.

One question for 5UB, hope it's ok to ask on here, there's mention of "free delivery" in the quote above, is this correct ? as I have been buying items for quite a while now and have never seen a free delivery option? have I missed something?

I wasn't going to ban you, I was curious. You seem really upset about something and I am unsure why. - For us, the company has done extremely well since the take over. We have invested a lot internally, and have noticed a massive increase in business, and our customer service rating has shot right up through the roof. In fact our community has grown massively too. - You seem to have just got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning. Or you really do hate us, and I am interested to know why. Please send me an email about it if you have an issue with our company, maybe I can look into improvements or problems that you have with us.

Despite the saltiness from an irate (ex?)customer, OCUK uses the opportunity to learn and get better.

Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.

I have not always been a forum member. But i have been a customer for some time. I remember growing up early teens time, and wanting pc parts. And i remember ordering a 9800 pro from them. And then getting a x800 series card from my brother from OC.

They have been a decent stable place to get the latest parts from. And since getting older they have one of the best forums i have used.

Cant fault them over the years at all. I cant say the same about many other places i shop at.

So thumbs up from me.

good luck I must say for customer service overclockers are hard to beat whenever I have needed to contact them whether by phone or forum they have allways been polite and very helpful I recently ordered a few items from the rain forest during black friday the prices were amazing but I never received the goods first off they make it hard to find how to contact them then it was obvious they were not reading the emails I sent so I tried phoning them I was greeted by people that were hard to understand rude and told outright lies contradicting one and other. to cut a long story short overclockers may be a little more expensive than some of the big tax avoiding firms but you cant put a price on good customer service and a reliable delivery firm again good luck:D

I remember you too. :)

As already mentioned, the company has a changed a lot and for the better and I am one of the longest standing members of staff here along with Telescopi, though I did take a near 2yr break.

I think by the response you can see things and people have changed for the better.

Agree with this 100%

Yes as i can see seems to be much better than it was and i shall start slowly adding to the community like i used to.
As stated time to get the chip of my shoulder i guess :P

I don't think you have so much a chip on your shoulder rather than something stuck in your craw and quite rightly so. The unpredictable and sometimes baffling way in which people were treated in the past turned a lot of people salty.

It still goes on and some mods have only got respect for their favourites while treating others with utter contempt. Some just want to stamp their authority while applying thier own rules haphazardly.

Hi Richard, the free delivery is for "loyal" form members - if you have been a member at least 90 days and have 250 posts, or have been a member at least 12 months and have 100 posts... I think applies to posts in certain parts of the forum only. Get posting :D

Well clearly the 5UB improvement didn't take place till like 2012 as I straight out got called a liar by one of the c.s people over the phone end of 2011, I RMA'd a motherboard due to a bent pin and it of was returned so I called to ask about it. The pin was bent in such a manner that it couldn't have occurred from putting the CPU in, when I said that and that I hadn't dropped anything in the socket the guy pretty much said I was lying.

Unless it's been deleted by now I posted the pic and my story on the forums back then.

Having been using OcUK since the days when the store was based in Fenton and you've got to give credit where it's due they've done pretty well for themselves. Yes, deals can be cheaper elsewhere but you have to hold your hands up and say customer service and product range is extremely high.

Fair play I say.

Improvements do not happen overnight unfortunately. And apologies for issues in the past.
