US: Westworld

Was it just me or did
Thandie Newton's chesticles seem to be a lot larger than one would expect? Or was it possibly a body double?

I just happened to finish off watching Mission Impossible 2 after I finished watching Westworld and there is a definite discrepancy in that area. Must be a body double.

looked like a tattoo to me.

yes it did.

Sorry for double post, but wanted to reply to this. It was an image painted onto the skull during creation of the robot. Ed's character didn't know it would be there, since he says something like "Maybe I need to dig a little deeper" before he attacks the guy with the knife on the mountaintop. However,
he may have seen something similar before since in episode 2 he walks towards the brothel madame robot when she is being attacked by native Americans and he is holding the same knife, so we can assume he has already been cutting open the robots to see what's inside.

That was 16 years ago, she's had 3 kids since then so it would be stranger if they weren't bigger.

It was a significant discrepancy! Besides they usually end up more saggy not actually increased in size after having kids.

hahahaha (even if this isn't actually true :) )

Really undecided about this - I'm not a huge fan of Western's anyway, but everything behind it is what has got me coming back to give the series time (never saw the film)

don't think its really a spoiler but just in case.....

Clearly there is going to be a "rebellion" on multiple levels, whether the hosts "know" this or its part of AH's character (not sure why he would, but obviously the subtle upgrades are doing more than officially planned at the very least even for fully working hosts. Some of the humans are seemingly antsy in regards ot the corporation also)

Actually thought the nudity in the workshop was fitting (although maybe not strictly necessary)

I'm rather enjoying this and don't want to spoil it so avoiding reading most this thread. It just thinking is there an anomaly in that some characters (the creations) seem to remember the prior days but others don't. Also, if it resets everyday how will people in the park enjoy it if it resets everyday?

I think this is all to do with Antony Hopkins' charachter doing his unofficial upgrades, some of which work and others mess up. As has been seen (with the facial changes mentioned in ep1) sometimes they go with the flow, other times they have to revert.

There are thousands of possible storylines in the park , with multiple happening at the same time so a visitor could visit many times without having to go through the same day

(this is what Ive picked up anyway)

Watched both eps and while they are entertaining, I really have no idea what is actually the point of everything happening that's happened so far... just seems like a whole lot of nothing.

it wasn't painted on the skull it was tattooed on the skin.
he obviously knew the existence of the maze, what it is [perhaps in generalisitc terms], what he needs [the map], where to find it [tatt] and who would have it.

It seemed to start with Dolores' dad finding that photo (and probably linked to the software update that went live last episode). He whispered something to Dolores which set her off, she then in turn said something to Thandie Newton's character (Maeve - had to look that up!). I believe they are the only 3 so far. I'm guessing the number will rise exponentially as they each tell me more hosts - like a network effect.

This is right up my street so far - but the opening sequence does feel like a bit of a GoT rip off, not surprising since it's from HBO I guess.

Overall sentiment - series is misogynist (Trump must be a fan) and would be interesting to see demographic of viewers - maybe it will re-balance later ?
Have not read the the book but the original film was more balanced, to wit, female guests.
(as already remarked) why reverse the role of man in black from synthetic to guest - a rich psychopathic guest re-visiting over 30 years period - really?
(It is like Arnies' role reversal in Terminator)

Last scenes of episode2, with frivolous introduction of the new westworld story plot, seemed inconsistent with the professional way the world was being run (it is not Disney world) ; then the convenient monologue of the creator to try and redeem the episode and leave viewer with a memory of good acting as a hook for next episode.

@JBod - I was a bit naïve about extent of VFX use, subsequently saw this on blood spatter technology which gives an idea on technique ?

Loving it so far. It's certainly an interesting premise which is enough to keep me hooked.

I personally think that Ford has a much bigger agenda. He is too much of a philosopher and grand-thinker to be satisfied with Westworld being a theme-park (if that was ever its real purpose).

My theory is that Westworld is some kind of test - the tip of the iceberg of a much larger world. Perhaps the guests' actions determine whether they get to find the 'deeper level'.

Westworld is almost like a perverted Garden of Eden, where the guests' own desires are the temptation rather than external influence.

Whether Westworld is purgatory or just an entrance to some kind of Utopia created by Ford I don't know. Maybe Ford is God?

------------

On a completely unrelated note, maybe Ford's big storyline involves the hosts intentionally revolting/gaining greater consciousness. He could well have planted the bug himself.

It also can't be a coincidence that Ford chose the Western theme with its associations with new possibilities and the frontier etc. (sorry if I'm stating the obvious).

She has confirmed in an interview that it is her. She was nursing at the time hence them being bigger.

My boobs were up to here, by the way. And I was nursing at the time, so that’s why my boobs were so big
