US: Westworld

Still have a strong suspicion that the MIB is Logan.

The first actor cast (and who did some filming) but had to drop out due to scheduling issues was

Eion Bailey

Now if there is anyone who is very believably a young Ed Harris looks wise, it is him .

Apparently they had to get Ben Barnes in very last minute.

or maybe the scheduling thing is a lie and they actually got rid of him because he looked too much like he could be Ed Harris in the future. Who knows.

Tbh, like with the Apprentice, I'm watching this like an addict, purely because I've already invested so many precious hours into the season; might as well see it through. The OST might be a worthy grab, though.

Me too.

I just really want to know who the MIB is.

I just watched the last bit with MIB and Dolores in Episode 9 and there are only two explanations to that scene. She half says/whispers William in a hopeful manner and starts to smile, then when the door opens and she sees the MIB her face turns from hope to absolute terror.

This is either because he is Logan and she remembers him cutting her open + perhaps terrorising her through the last 30 years of being in the park OR her reaction is the realisation that this horrible person who has been terrorising her all this time has been William all along and she has only now realised (but unbeknownst to her MIB/William might only have been horrible to try and kick start the consciousness in her) .

I don't think the timelines thing is a thing, I think it's just memories.

I don't really follow series' threads that closely but why is there such a fever to work out what's going on? Why not just enjoy it and let it all play out?

Man alive, you guys are watching it weird.

In episode 9 Logan gives William picture of Juliet (Logan's sister and William's future wife) to "get a grip on reality". That new and crisp version of the picture is the same photo that Peter Abernathy has found (will find) in episode 1 in the ground at his farm. The picture that triggers his "reverie update glitch", effectively retiring his host, which in turn, coupled with MiB "barn visit" will trigger "reverie update glitch" in Dolores and start her journey outside of her "scenario loop", leading her to follow the path of her previous scenario (damsel in distress in bounty hunt adventure) and that's how she remembers journey with William (and effectively that's how we learn Logan gave William the picture, because those scenes are presented to the viewer as Dolores' memories). At that point how many more proofs of William not being in the same timeline as MiB do you need?

(some of you will read the above twice and still think I'm screwing with you, won't you ;) )

I think the working stuff out yourself (or in my case, trying to understand what everyone else has worked out) is part of the fun!

I guess it's probably due to my mindset. I spend all day thinking hard so when I come home and want to switch off I'll watch a show and just chill out without thinking about it too much. This also means I get to watch it for the second time without knowing everything inside out :) I enjoy watching something for the second time and noticing things more so than I do working it out 24/7 whilst I'm watching it for the first time.

No, I just think, well, nothing really. If it is a different timeline then so be it, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it not being memories :)

So, here's what I think will happen (other than what I already kept flogging like a dead horse for weeks):

- Meave will break out from her chains only to discover that her journey to freedom was staged from the beginning and the only reason Ford allowed her to go as far as boarding the train was to use her to execute original Peter Abernathy's hosts and prevent Charlotte from moving data out of the park. They made us all forget about that, so in true cinema fashion it must be part of the final resolution.

- Elsie is not dead. Her execution by Bernard makes no sense and the time spent building her character makes no sense if she's dead, so I'm just refusing to go down that avenue on the grounds of "too lazy writing to be in Westworld story".

- Ford will turn out to be Arnold's creation. I keep thinking about it and dismissing it ever since MiB said "I wonder what I would find if I opened you up" and pulled a knife on Ford in a bar. It would explain his omnipotence and super admin ability to control everything and every host without saying a word, it would give a better explanation to "Ohm, you built a back door" reveal before Bernard's death, it would explain secretly weaved bodies (older every time) and the whirring sound effect we get when youngest Ford is on the screen. I don't think Ford being a host is particularly good story line but all the tiny details add up to it and wouldn't make sense otherwise.

Three hours to go, I've my TV set tuned into HBO1 and enough coffee to keep me awake until Tuesday. ;)

(Some speculative crazy drivel)

Oh lol. And then someone turned on the light just as Johne Locke started frantically banging on the hatch and hysterically begging the Island for the answers and everything else became largely irrelevant. :D

See you all in 2018.

Wait? 2018!?!

That's only a maybe, it could also be 2017.
Casey Bloys, HBO programming president, told EW that Westworld might not return until 2018. He said the size of the world, what’s involved in filming the show, and the intricacy of the scripts might require a 2018 premiere date. However, he added, this is only his suspicion. He doesn’t have a specific date in mind. In fact, he elaborated on this with The Hollywood Reporter, emphasizing that the premiere could still be in 2017, he just really doesn’t know a year in advance.

What he's essentially saying is that the show costed so much money that the network had to wait until mid season to review the viewership numbers and how much money can be made from syndication (selling the show to channels around the world). This in turn forced HBO to postpone the renewal decision to so late in the year, that even if season 2 starts shooting immediately after New Year (and it won't, scripts need to be penned, contracts need to be renegotiated, logistics will take some time etc), there is no ****** way they could shoot everything and finish post production by September.

Edit: Ed Harris confirmed in one of the post finale interviews that's he's pre-scheduled to return on set in Utah around June/July. So yeah - very slim chances of the show returning in 2017.

I would be tempted to leave it at that and finish it after one season. Overall was very good but stringing it out over more seasons is only going to devalue things. But then again money talks.

My thoughts exactly after watching episode 10.

Call it a night.

10 episodes was painful enough.

No need for more.

Mr Robot all over again if they go for season 2. There isn't enough real time progressive story like game of thrones for example to stretch this out given the ££££££££ budgets.

It felt self contained with one session and to keep going, whilst it could be amazing would simply pull a full 'lost' effort.

I really enjoyed this first season and looking forward to its return even though there is going to be a long wait.
