wet graphocs card

ive had chance for a closer inspection and one of the tubes attached to the rad come loose of the barb, the 290x is just below it, would it be possible for the heat from the 290x to warm up the tubing allowing it unseal and come loose or am I just grabbing at straws and the thing was just faulty

Grasping.

Just give the card a good 2 weeks in a warm dry environment and try it again. To be honest though id be straight onto corsair to see what they can do, if they're willing to replace the card quicker, do so.

Ouch :( I'd ask on the corsair forums and be patient and give your gpu a good week to dry out, you definitely dont want to rma it early and they get it back and find damp spots :)

I've seen threads on the Corsair forums where at first Corsair has said they have a (quite low) limit on what they pay out for parts damaged due to a cooler leak. However due to the amount of attention their thread gained, Corsair relented and paid out for damaged parts in full- they want to avoid a bad reputation. Hopefully the card will work after drying out though, good luck :)

This may be a daft idea but do you know that liquid you can buy to put your mobile phone in when it gets wet, eg dropped down the loo and after you soak it your mobile phone quite often works.

Could the same be done for wet Graphics cards ????

This is why I am never having any water in my system, it's just to dangerous! Maybe a custom loop but unless I did that no way. Anyway hope you got it sorted, first thing is to see what Corsair have to say about it I think.
A few people are like that though, my brother being one of them. It may be a slim chance but its still the thought of water being near it turns people off it.

i agree. i'm one of them, tbh i was thinking about getting a sealed water cooler, but seeing afew more people having them leak it's put me right off.

yeh i know what you mean, im undecided to put another back on as i dont bother to oc anymore, infact the stock intel cooler is so quiet but not sure about temps as my pc is only web browising due to lack of gpu at the mo, still looking at it trying to build up the courage to see if it works or not

You'd be surprised how well the stock intel cooler does, I used it with a 4.2Ghz OC on my old 2500k for about a week when I was first getting my WC bits together for it, max temps under gaming (for a few hours) were below 70 and it went to about 80 if I stressed it using Prime or something.

Makes me want to go check my h100i

Just dont it :D

To say that its a risk putting water in your PC is nonsense. Ive had 4 corsair units now and they wouldnt sell them unless they were well built and have a super low fault rate or the bad rep/compensation claims would destroy the good name they have

well afer a week since i emailed corsair i had just about give up hope then today i recieved an email from them with a compensation claim form and they will pay for postage for the h80i and 290x to check over, seems fair enough to me so hopefully will be sorted soon

I had similar with an Antec 920 Kuhler, it leaked onto my GPU, luckily i think the Antec must be filled with non conductive coolant or something because the card was fine, it got my heartrate going though. Antec were brilliant, they replaced the 920 with a 950 as the 920 was discontinued. Hopefully you get a good outcome from Corsair.

That's like saying I'm never crossing a road again in case I get knocked over after you see it on the news. The chances of this happening are extremely slim otherwise you'd see it regularly reported on here. I'm pretty certain the OP will get this sorted without pulling any money out his pocket bar maybe postage.

Something called hassle, which I hate. Unless you do a full loop I think air is better.

Such a go between cooler anyway. Better off with air if they're going to leak. Or as above custom loop.

To be fair they are not going to leak though are they. This is the first report Ive ever heard and Ive had 4 different ones myself up to the h100i which I have now. Even a custom loop has the possibilty of leaking

Not too sure about that as I was considering one of the AIO Corsair coolers but after reading a few threads over at their forums, and one or two other places, about leaking units I decided against it. As small a chance as it might be of the unit leaking the fact that it can and does happen is enough to put me off. Hopefully Corsair will sort the OP out but, for me, it is just not worth the hassle and having my main PC gimped whilst they go through their inspection process etc.
Anyway another factor is that I only run my 3570k at 4.4 / 4.5 and so it is cooled nicely by the relatively small and reasonably quiet Arctic Freezer Pro rev 2, oh and it was cheap too..!

Good luck to the OP btw.

Update

corsair has inspected my h80i and 290x and has offerd a replacment cooler and $400 for the 290x, i think this eqautes to about £235, not enough to replace a 290x but enough to help out, my guess is they valued the msi 290x on us prices

I'd be pushing more, you expect a like for like replacement. Send them the OcUK link for the card you bought and say I want one of these. Not your fault their **** broke.
