Wetherspoons

Ones in Manchester/Bury are usually very peaceful in the day but full of scallies on weekends and student nights. Place to go if you're looking for a fight.

the one on Deansgate ( moon under water or something like that ) is horrific

THe one we use is in *** metrocentre, so no bother really occurs. Its not a bad place, cheap beer, nice burgers, only annoyance is its full of kids.

The one is the metrocentre is proper rank. Some drunk geordie tried to start on me in there.

The one just off George Square in Glasgow is one of the nicest i've been in.

Moon under the Water is by far the best one for lack of trouble lol  . Usually full of old men whenever I've been in lol.

I used to go to Wetherspoons back in Kirkcaldy, and it was a nice place to catch up with people due to the lack of music. It got stupidly busy at the weekends though which I hated. They were generally quite good for not letting in under-agers as there were bouncers on the doors every night, I guess that has probably changed now though.

My local spoons is in Bromley - its a bit of a dive. Was recently refurbished into a Lloyds I think but it suits the saying, you can clean a sewer, but you cant stop the **** flowing through it, perfectly! The last time I was in there, the place got shut down by the police at around 10pm as somebody had smashed a champagne bottle over someones head! A police station has been built outside it now so I imagine the trouble has eased.

But it is cheap, the food is alright. Its a good place to go to during the day, and very nice toilets for a pub, even if you do get your token black man in there, trying to wash your hands and sell you aftershave!

my girlfriend works in wetherspoons

the beer is cheap, the place has no atmosphere at all, good selection of real ale's, but i would much rather pay 20p more a pint and sit in a real pub as I really don't class wetherspoons as a pub.

Food is ok, cheap and quite tasty, other thing that puts me off is its very overcrowded anywhere near the weekend.

No real experience of lloyds, never went to the one in Cambridge.
There's a Lloyd's in Cambridge?

In my hometown of Windsor, there are two Wetherspoon's. The one on Thames St, opposite the castle, is a damn nice place. Huge leather armchairs, good selection of food and beer, beautiful terrace and an upstairs dining area, plasma screens on the walls and all tastefully decorated.

The other one, on Peascod St, is a complete hole. It stinks of stale beer and the floor's had so much crap spilt on it that your feet stick, and you're not sure what's carpet and what's rotting food. This is where we used to start all of our nights out. Hey, it's cheap!

What he said based on the one located in Rochester & Maidstone High St

This applies to Sittingbourne also. A refurb is due at the end of November (dance floor area being fitted). Staff there including the management hate how the business is run and how there treated. They think the area manager is a **** due to his inability to manage. The staff are constantly given extra duties/training and are NOT paid the right hourly rate to reflect this. The company promises a lot and delivers, poor wages & bad morale the list goes on.....

The management course is a joke - the hours your required to work are ridiculous, and the pay is laughable....try £6 p/h for a manager (£14k per year approx). Team leaders £5.25/£5.75 per hour - absolute cr@p. Bonuses based on profits taken are given too - but this isnt great!

This is direct from the whole team there some of which are long term employees. Main probem stems from the Area Manager, but the two main managers in Sitt, are lazy, and overpaid......(trust me there overpaid!!)

----

Food is nasty - microwaved/frozen prepped by non-qualified chefs.

Drink is cheap and generally means its a magnet for ****** and chavs, hence staff being verbally assaulted every weekend.

Don't swear. FF.

Cheltenham one is good has very good food. Cardiff one by the bay is a bit poor. Staines one is ok but not as good as Chelt. There can be a lot of variations between them, but generally ok for a pint and cheap meal.

Good place to start an evening out as its cheap so you can get a load of drinks in before you move on to a proper pub/club/bar.

one in lancaster - used to do Smirnoff Ice for £1 a bottle = £10 goes a long way, didnt finish them before we left.

it was an okay place, but clearly a stop on the way to clubland as opposed to an all night place

Indeed. I've been there. You can be only be so enthusiastic about a job when you're knee deep in sick and lager for £4 an hour. Be careful about false optimism.

I know the guys in a certain branded pub down in swansea do approx 45 hours a week regularly, get paid salary, and it's not that hot pay for the work their doing.

They closed the Regal (opposite Emmanuel college, can't remember the street name) for a while, refurbished and reopened it as a Lloyds. Someone didn't think this through entirely though, and for a long while after it opened they weren't allowed to actually use the shiny new DJ setup, as it made too much noise and disturbed the arts picture house upstairs - whoops.

I lie, I've been in there twice, once to cover staff and once on a lunch break when I was working briefly at Downing collge just down the road. It's alright, but I've heard nasty things about weekend nights, suppose they do at least have bouncers now though.

The Lloyds in bradford isnt too bad really, big tvs all over the place, pretty relaxed, and if you get the right seat, you can see the giant screen outside! Food is alright too.

Kilmarnock one seemed fairly decent aswell! But it was in the middle of a school day, so not filled with kids trying to get served

Havent ventured into any pubs in wrexham yet :)

I've been to the Wetherspoons in Bury quite a few times and had a good night.

Yates' around the corner though is another thing... that place is chav central :( Still, when I last went out there I had a fantastic time
