We've got Covid and a volcano, we've had Meghan but there's more. The clocks go forward this weekend

Fantastic, longer, lighter evenings!

BST is BeST.

Every 6 months we have this thread.
And every 6 months I have a moan.
Every 6 months I realise some of the forum are vampires

Why can't it be lighter in the winter evenings :(.
That's when it makes a difference!

GMT +2 in winter
GMT +2 in summer

That's my vote

GMT in winter basically halts most of my hobbies for 3 months of the year during the week.

If you like outdoor stuff. BST is ****
If you like indoor stuff. It doesn't matter!

Oh, and every 6 months, due to this thread. Im not sure if Feek mistyped his name. And it should be Freak! :D

We didn't invent time but the concept of measuring it, in the way we do currently. Entropy has been around since the big bang but time itself is an illusion because there is only now.

Wrong on every level.

We found Dr Who... Defiantly English and a Timelord so by the laws of physics (way beyond my understanding) defacto we invented Time so it becomes usefull. (The greeks only half arsed it and sundials big stones to **** everyone up as a joke do not count.

It wasn't a big bang it was a an Expansion.

BST for life... you GMT luddites !!

It does, people make too much noise outside when it gets light. As well as that, peoples' infectiously polluting cheery attitudes drive me mad:"it's light in the evenings, isn't it wonderful!" while I have to grimace and say "yes" reluctantly.

And people think I'm weird for it. I don't know why. I want to live in a crypt.

You could live in a crypt then it wouldn't matter? :D.

I think it really depends if you're an outdoor person or not.

That's fair. It's people who seem to be indoorsy that seem to love GMT I don't get! :p

For me it's about light and noise. Even if you draw the blinds in my flat you still get light through the window and no, I'm not going to be able to get blackout blinds in a rented property.

Too much light really stresses me out, I have long suspected I have SSAD. I don't mind it during the day, obviously, but when it's still light beyond, say, 9pm, I feel exposed and trapped. There's nowhere to escape to and you just have to wait it out. I'm on the road to getting therapy for it, or a diagnosis, because I don't want to live the rest of my life like this or making excuses and lying to people about how much I love light evenings when I don't. What makes it harder is that people just don't get it - you explain it to them and they laugh or think it's weird - so you just have to say nothing and smile and nod.

EDIT: posts like this just prove my point

People who would rather the evenings be dark are absolutely psychos and we should lock them in the dark anyway.

More useful to you, not the majority of the population who are still in bed?

According to google, Sunrise after BST starts on April 1st is still 6:33 a.m.
Yeah the big giveaway was when I said "I" just prefer it not everyone does.
6.33am is what I'd call late morning.
The fact the majority are still in bed is one of the main reasons I prefer mornings.

It's funny because there is a big difference in the types of people you meet, all those up early are really friendly all saying morning to each other with a similar appreciation of the outdoors. Then later as the rest wake up that's gone and replaced with loud mostly obnoxious people.

GMT is awful, go to work in the dark, come home in the dark.

GMT+2 all year round please so you can actually get some Vitamin D in the evenings in the winter.

You really can't get blackout blinds? Could you speak to the landlord? Some are decent.

It's very annoying when people think you're making something up just because it's invisible!
