WHA HOOOO

Exactly, its stuff like the kadett/chevette that put me right off the idea of an Escort. Could get a much better car for less money too.

but the good side of 5 k.

Christ, I knew they were fetching good money but I hadn't realised it has reached that kind of figure

/Thinks back to the Mk1 I sold for £50 :(

Yep. Good ol' scene tax. It's sent prices of VW Splitties up through the roof, added another $10k on the price of a 2nd Gen Charger as soon as the Dukes Of Hazzard movie came out, all manner of cars out there that command prices far above what they're actually worth.

Heh, always the way....:)

when my dad's last escort got stolen, he couldn't give away the spares.

he ended up scrapping a shed AND a lockup full of panels, trim, running gear, two hot crossfows and a big (2.2) pinto on twin 48s...

...this was around 1990...

...he could probably retire on the proceeds if he still had them...

I dunno whats in that brown metallic paint, but they always seem to last longer than any other colour!

My mk1 used to be the same colour, now in white (it was in red primer when I bought it though):

Oh man, that hurts :(

I like where I'm at car-wise. The '80s Olds Custom Cruisers are never going to massively appreciate in value, so I'm never going to face the pain of selling it and 10 years on realising I could have kept it and made 5000% more money :D

Erm

Rs2000 running gear (2 litre pinto, 5 speed type 9 box, spax shocks, capri vented front disks.)

Not sure on the axle.

No sunroof. Very good shell, needs two new wings though. But that not uncommon.

Its got 11 months MOT. Free tax.

Im going to enjoy it for the summer, then do the wings over the winter.

It's taken me about 3 months to track down a good one again. Lopez helped me out with information, when I was younger on an orange mk2 escort, he might remember it.

red oxide?

mmm...all the cool cars will be in red oxide this year...

At the Mopar Nats three years ago, someone pitched up in a '62 VW Splitty in red oxide, dropped into the weeds, big engine, BRMs and a seriously nice interior. Registered a solid 11 on the JRS Cool Meter™ :D Guess the owner was ahead of the curve!

Yup :D

I don't have a pic of it here at work, but I have a pic midway through fixing her up, I went over getting rid of all the dents before painting properly, and find grey primer shows them up a lot better:

Quite fun driving it around like that, people get out of your way. :D

(just looking at the car in your sig)

I used to have a mint mk2 XR2 (40k miles from new) and I saw a really nice one today in a petrol station.

I've had to wait ages and AGES to save up for this. (about 2 years now). You'll get there if you really want it :D

Loving driving it - everyone looks at it :D!

Mind you , even on tickover, the shell does rock about a lot, brum brum.

No, its not an AVO. just an 1100 with a 2000cc and 5 speed type9, rs2000 carb.

If you want a standard rs2000 avo, you're looking at nearly 8k now in this condition.

I'm not paying that!!!
