Loving driving it - everyone looks at it :D!

Mind you , even on tickover, the shell does rock about a lot, brum brum.

No, its not an AVO. just an 1100 with a 2000cc and 5 speed type9, rs2000 carb.

If you want a standard rs2000 avo, you're looking at nearly 8k now in this condition.

I'm not paying that!!!
i think the 1100 had a 3.89 diff.
how quickly does it accelerate and what does it top out at?
if it's screaming it's gonads off in top gear at less than 100 or so you've got a 3.89.
with a 3.54 you should just about hit 120mph.

yeh its not bad

enjoying it for the summer is the plan, try not to wrap it around a tree.

then in the winter its getting two new wings and a change of colour.

Jon!

Jon!
uprating the suspension will make it easier to control (im guessing you prob don't have much RWD experience)
multi link the rear axle and i'd personally recommend fitting compression struts at the front.
i promise you WILL NOT believe how it will handle when compared to modern stuff.

I've had two mk2 escorts before this, one left the road in the wet, was reubilt by me then sold.

This ones for dry use only!

Its running spax shocks on the back and capri legs on the front.

handles okay but I understand your points about 4 linking etc. Expensive though!

only expensive if you can't weld.
even if you can't you probably know someone that can.
price up the parts mate, it's not as pricey as you think.

and i'll only say this once...but... BRENDA'S NEED BILSTEINS, AND BILSTEINS ONLY!!!

red oxide?

mmm...all the cool cars will be in red oxide this year...

*n

The guy I used to work with at KK had a '67 drag bug done in red oxide, with centerline fronts, mag rears, scallops on the engine air scoops, and a dashboard full of genuiine 60s VW meet stickers, it was ****ing awesome.

I 5 linked my last mk2, its quite expensive.

I wont bother with this one.

Very nice car, still miss my Mk2 :D

Do the gearboxes feal as perfect now as they did 12 years ago I last drove one?

From memory with a 20 quid quickshift kit my old mk2 was the nicest gearbox I had used. :)

the only problem with the type 9 is it doesn't like real power.
a shame as it's a really nice workhorse to use.

nice drop of the quickshift for the retro kids in here btw :D

Wayhey, at last some love for the T9. I've always found it to be a nice box to use but people generally slate them.

people slate them, but usually for not being able to do things WAY beyond what they were designed to do.
reasonably tough, durable, a typically slick change, super easy to remove+refit...not bad IMHO.

t9's good for 180 bhp.
i think it's asking a bit much of a T9 to take 180bhp in the long term.
quaife used to do a very good replacement set of internals and they're tough as hell.

last car was turreted and linked, that cost me over a grand then.
if you can't weld then turreting can be pricey.
but 4/5 linking by itself isn't expensive at all IMHO.

I'm great at blowing holes in stuff, its great fun ! :D

I cant weld though your right!!! Not very well anyway!

I'm going to enjoy the car (if we ever get any decent weather!) a quick shift is next on the shopping list for meee :D

then two new wing and a front panel if I can find some cheap steel ones.

Jon!

trust me mate, i'd bet heavily you can weld better than i can, lol.
sorry to say what i'm sure a million others will have said to you, but as it's not an authentic AVO car you HAVE to YB the damn thing.

pleeease!
:p
