What a **** !!!!

Keeping up with the Joneses no doubt. No kid at 16 needs that as their first car.

And no, not jealous - I actually enjoyed starting with something small and cheap and gradually getting a nicer car over the years.

Nice. Wish my family was that wealthy. I do remember one kid in my school getting a Porsche when he turned 18. Needless to say, the ladies loved it.

My Moms Cousins son (my 2nd cousin i guess?) is 20 and hasnt even finished 'college' yet, and has a 335 petrol.****.

I think a member on that site summed it up pretty well

I gotta be honest here, there's something very wrong about a 16yo kid getting such an expensive car that the vast majority of us have to work hard for.

IMO all this does is teach the kid that things come easy. It does nothing to instill in him any kind of work ethic.

I did it the "hard way". My first car was a POS and now, 20 years later, at the age of 37, I am soon to take delivery of my E92 M3, which will be my first European car.

The point of this post? That the feeling of satisfaction knowing that I "did it myself" is something that money just can't buy.

Very luck boy. Although I to think he'll probably end up losing his license or dead. Mad parents.

I presume the actual car and insurance are A LOT cheaper over there. If you tried insuring a 16 year old on an M3 over here the insurance company would laugh in your face, (partly because you can't drive at 16 over here :p ).

this.

it's not really that expensive a car though, especially if you're rather wealthy. bear in mind that insurance in the US is a lot cheaper than over here, as is fuel.

the fact that the speed limit is 50 and police can be found every 100 yards, coupled with wide, open roads designed for cruising, i don't really think it's that bad.
yes, it's a bit extreme, but powerful cars are nothing new in the states
