What are the 30 year old plus gamers playing?

Weirdly enough I am just trying to complete a bunch of single player JRPGs that I acquired through sales, really trying to stay away from multiplayer games at the moment as it means I will never complete my backlog.

I'm 40 this year, very much in the can't be arsed with long games phase. Since Xmas I've decided to give myself a bit more time to game and it's been mostly BFV on PC, which is still very enjoyable. There's a Narvik movie on Netflix which reminded me to fire it up again. I tried BF2042 in the new year, but even with updates it's still terrible.

On the side, when I remember and have the TV to myself I'm slowly plodding my way through FC5 on PS4.

The best game I've played in a while was Days Gone on PS4 (after the first 20% it got much better), and before that, The Last of Us 2.

I've given up on so many games in the last few years as they're so enormous they feel like having a second job sometimes.

Gave up on God of War, didn't see what the fuss was about.

34 and can't be bothered with hyper competitive games anymore.

Currently playing FTL with the multiverse mod and for multiplayer action hold fast / rising storm Vietnam.

Just beat horizon zero dawn again but did a NG+ run on ultra hard, achievements wise I only have the collectibles to find so I might just do them to 100% it now.. Not sure how long it'll take, as I'll be at zero collectibles because of the NG+

Edit found an old save so got quite a few of the collectibles now, so will work on the outstanding ones to 100% it.

Path of Exile as always - my 'home' game
Cities Skylines
Just started Bannerlord again as it seems the game is going in a good direction now and a lot has been improved

Still trying to stick to less games and put more focus rather than dabbling in 50 different at the same time like I usually do haha :D

Started Wolfenstein: The New Order last night. Never played any of the Wolfenstein games before. Seems ok so far.
Still playing BF2042.
Tried Quantum Break but got bored with all the cut scenes and movies. Might drag myself to the end.

I'm a 53 year old gamer, although due to life stuff I get less time than I used to.
I started with a ZX80 when I was just into double figures, and then have been on the usual various computer journey.
I tend to focus on RTS games, of recent years I have put good ours in Transport Fever and Dyson sphere. And still go back to my favourite - Company of Heroes (1).
Occasionally I also jump into BF3 (which I think looks and plays better than any of the newer versions). Over last 5 years I have also put a lot of time into Elite Dangerous, but it got too boring.

I am at the point of considering if I update my PC as I would like to try Flight Simulator, but as most games I play I can do smoothly with my old pc (i5-3570K + updated GTX1660super).
My concern is I could end up splashing cash (well credit) and end up not enjoying it where I can play the games I like anyway.

Have just moved to a new LG 27GP850-B 1440p monitor (from a 24" 1080p), and updated my crappy old speakers to Creative T60's.
Its made a big improvement, so might seen how I go before changing.

As I slowly but surely approach 50.....I'm still just playing BF2042 and Russian Fishing 4.....
Me and a mate (he's nearly 50 I think) have been playing DMZ but thats getting a bit tiresome then we jump to HLL for some paced gaming, we used to play BF2042 but I just fond that a bit same same :(

If you just want to try Flight Simulator, get yourself a Game Pass Ultimate subscription (normally £1 for new members) and play Flight Sim via the Cloud. Won't be as good graphically, but at least you can see if you'll like the game.

Yeah...I know what you mean, it is a bit samey if you play too much. Changes comeing soon which might liven it up again, but it really needs more maps!

Didn't even think of that - what a good idea. Will give it a go as soon as a get an evening of freedom. Cheers.

Well that didn't take long to find all the bits needed, so 100% on horizon zero dawn now.

I've just bought Days Gone, had a hard time at release but have heard mainly good things recently, so this my next play :)

59 here... 60 in less than 6 months.

Started on ACE, 'Air Combat Emulator' on a commodore Plus 4. Well, technically, 'Star Trek' on a Perkin-Elmer infrared spectrophotometer, and 'Kingdoms' on a Commodore PET.

Currently keep going back to Rimworld, Shadow Empire, Stellaris and the X-Com franchise

Trying Out Crusader Kings 3, looking forward to 'Urban Strife'.
