What are the 30 year old plus gamers playing?

Don't play as much as I used to but finally managed to play RDR2 in November this year and finished it about 2 weeks ago.

I bought God of War and Elden Ring, and currently going through God of War. Really nice game, good story (have always been a sucker for mythology), quite enjoying the character development and the mechanics are pretty good.

Multiplayer? None, I've had a few games on the couch split screen:

Fifa22, Paw Patrol (yes we were drunk haha) and Dirt on Stadia.

Mostly play SinglePlayer these days, CBA to put effort into games, they must be relaxing als always pausable. Last modern Shooter I played online a lot was CoD4.

It all went downhill with all the achievement rubbish, unlocks, removing practice vs bots (after Battlefield 2). But mostly chaos, they are to chaotic and you are constantly bombarded by rubbish, be it annoying kids in the chat or voice chat or annoying social features. They require to much focus and attention.

I played a lot of TF2 in the early days, when it was a paid-for game, a short while after it became free I stopped, again, because with all the unlocks (first 2 or 3 unlocks were still fine, but they overdid it imho) it became to complex and chaotic imho.

I long for simpler games really (RPG/1st/3rd person games), which is probably why Games like God of War or South Park are very nice to play for me now. Even games like the Witcher 3 or Cyberpunk are off-putting midgame because of the array of items, weapons, combo's, magic whatever is added to em. I don't want games where I need to remember how to play them if you left them alone for a while. GTA 5 does this better imo in this case.

Only exceptions are strategy and sim games, CIV series is one of the few where I love all the additions, but probably because I know and play the game like second nature. Tycoon games and strategy (real time and turn based) can not be complex enough for me :D ( though to a limit, with age of empires 2 for example I also got sick of all the new countries and units). Sins of a Solar empire or Civ or cities skylines or even transport fever etc is not complex enough though!

I'm closer to 50 than 40 but slowly working through Elden Ring; I should or could be more frustrated with it but I'm using tutorials and just enjoying it in sedate 2 hour sessions. It's bloody brilliant!

50s
Went shopping in the Green Man Gaming and Steam sales with a 100 quid budget. Bought-

Horizen Zero Dawn Complete
Deathloop
Resi Village
Monster Hunter World
Elden Ring
Ride 4
Disco Elysium
Titanfall 2

Went 0.49 quids over budget but I'm set for the next 12 months.
Still have an AC vikings expansion to do and a couple of hours of FH5 a week (fear my mighty Tesco van).
Nice haul. That will keep you busy for a long time.

POE, that's as big as a gaming time-sink as I can do, what with work etc I'd love to be able to play FFXIV properly, but I think that ship has sailed.

Some single player games for variety in addition, still play some strategy games, but nothing has grabbed me for a while now.

Trying to get back into Mass Effect again. After a false start with the Legendary edition (see separate thread) I reinstalled ME1 off the DVD's put the 1.02 patch on and it seems to be running okay.
I also want to revisit Fallout 4 this year too, but last time I fired it up the game insta CTD'ed. hadn't touched it in a while so maybe a mod got nerfed. Will do a complete vanilla reinstall at some point.

Played through Days Gone recently. Brilliant game - I completed everything but the collectibles as I just don't have the time or patience.

Just started on HZD which I picked up for a tenner. Looks absolutely amazing on my LG OLED at 4K with HDR, and the gameplay is great too!

Jsut found out as I am not up to date at all with PC gaming there is an xcom style WH40k game called Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters, so I have that but I don't have a GPU atm so cannot play it. I am not a huuuuge 40k fan as in I don't know the lore at all but I enjoy the settings. Also looking forward to Rogue Trader.

Had a steering wheel and pedals (Logitech G923) with a basic racing stand/seat for Christmas, so I’m currently playing GRID Legends as it’s just about the only approachable racing game I can find that works nicely with a wheel, that’s not an all-out, super punishing sim racer (ACC and Dirt Rally 2.0 for example). Really disappointed Forza Horizon 5 is utterly terrible and basically unplayable with the wheel, regardless of how much tweaking you do.

I'm still playing Cyberpunk. I've decided to play on Geforce Now and paid for a months 3080 subscription. It's pretty incredible. It's not as powerful as a local 3080 but it's a massive step up from my 2070 non super. If you have the internet connection to back it up I do recommend. If you don't have a decent card already that is. The picture clarity and latency is very impressive.

55 and currently playing Death Stranding which I got for free from Epic recently. By all rights this should be a tedious game to me but, for some reason, I'm really enjoy it. Maybe I should change job and work for Yodel.

Just reinstalled Skyrim again after rage uninstalling it a few months back.

I had it PERFECT, absolutely perfect, about 200 mods but got them all playing nicely, then they released the game on GOG and pushed an update to the Steam version that broke everything and some of my mods got updated but others didn't which then caused it's own problems.

Started building a mod collection again, doubt I'll ever get it to where I had it last time but I just can't find another game like it.

As for multiplayer, it's mainly been Golf With Your Friends. Sadly the small group I game with have very different tastes, hardware and budgets meaning we usually end up playing low price, low spec games.

These days I tend to be more PvE, PvP brings out my competitive side which is the opposite of relaxing escapism. Plus I can be a bit Richard Hammond when I win.

39 here, still playing csgo and overwatch 2.

But also enjoying quirky games such as unpacking, road 96 and pentiment via Xbox game pass.

RDR2 with some fortnite in between. Next on the playlist are Witcher 3 (updated one), Horizon Zero Dawn and Death stranding (from the epic freebie).
