What are the 30 year old plus gamers playing?

Think I might have to get an OLED TV instead of a 4080. Pick a 4060 Ti or 4070 for the new PC and get the TV instead of the extra GPU power.

Easy choice. Personally, I'm not going back to IPS, VA or whatever.

No card from the 4000 series is really worth it. Wait it out, grab the cheapest used 4070 you can and buy an OLED.

That's what I'm doing, have a PS5 and a 55" C2 already and will be upgrading the PC soon with a used 4070 and most likely an ultrawide QD-OLED.
I'm even willing to risk it with my somewhat mixed usage which might make burn in a bigger concern than usual but to hell with it, hopefully a couple of hours of Ableton Live here and there won't hurt too much.

I'll upgrade the GPU when something worthwhile comes out.

Let me put it this way, I'd rather play on my PS5 hooked to the C2 than on a PC with a 4090 hooked to my current VA. That's how big the difference is.

That's the choice I made in January, instead of a 4080 or XTX I decided on the TV and my word, proper HDR on an OLED was such a huge jump in overall visual quality when gaming, more noticeable than a 40-50% FPS improvement (although as I now need to drive 4K I still want a better card).

I'd agree a slightly lesser card and OLED are the way to go.

I'm looking forward to the remaster of a 27 year old game more than any other game at the moment. I have really fond memories of playing the original Tomb Raider and TR2 as a kid and only played through it once, so hoping it'll feel kinda fresh. I've wanted to play it for years, but was always put off by the lack of controller support.

Also can't wait for the MGS games to release on Steam. Then I just need the original Resident Evils and I'll be a very happy 40yo gamer.

Welcome to the OLED life. It's honestly been the biggest upgrade I've done in decades. It's like going from CRT to LCD all over again. Only a million times better. My 3090 is struggling with new titles at 4k (LG C2) but I'm so happy I didn't grab a 4080 or similar instead.

Anyone else looking to do the next upgrade, OLED is the way.

I think in my case, I’d have to get another PS5 if I got the OLED TV just to have “proper” HDR as I’m not sure Windows still gets it right? A 4060Ti would do wonders for the older games I regularly play on PC but the PS5 will probably do a better job on new stuff.

And only last week I was dead set on a gaming laptop, trying to find one with a miniLED screen. Now it’s all up in the air. :D

I have officially entered the club and have realised i can now post in here!

My knees are now presenting as a powdered variety… and i don’t have much time for games but payday 3 has kept me occupied recently! Starfield was great but my game pass ran out and i couldn’t justify renewing so will await starfield being cheaper

My aging reactions haven't stopped me enjoying Souls-likes yet. Currently playing Lies of P.

Up to Chapter VII at the moment, and so long as the quality doesn't drop off from now to the end, it will be my GOTY so far.

Dragon Age Inquisition. I've played it several times before but never further than when you get to Skyhold, it just never really clicked. Randomly decided to pick it up as nothing that comes out anymore is worth my time to only discover it's yet again unfinished.

Low and behold, I'm loving it, a lot! It looks sublime on the OLED and runs a treat at 4k (without AA, no need for it) and the story is fairly decent, but the characters are the main draw. For those that tried this a while back and couldn't sink into it, it's better than most of the modern crap being churned out, give it another shot.

It's also so simple and easy to play, it's the perfect game to jump in and out of for a few hours at a time which suits my lifestyle perfectly.

Lords of the Fallen. Really liking it so far though I have an inkling that I'm going to reach a boss I can't complete
You haven't met the first boss then? Man i gave up thinking i'd barely even started the game and was met with a challenge already! Although 50 attempts later i beat that boss and now, i'm progressing :D

Ha yes, I thought the first boss was very difficult as well. Took about 8 - 10 attempts I think. Main change was to dodge and not block. This is how I'm playing the game now. I re specced about 10 hours in so I could use the 1st bosses sword and some radiant spells. Going ok so far! Though I've just met my first boss with 2 phases and I'm never a fan of those! I killed you, stay dead you *******. At first the game was so overwhelming with he two worlds, lamp, spells etc but It becomes second nature after a while and works well.

I bought a ps3 just to play demon souls all those years back and have have pretty much played most of the major souls type games. Apart from Skerio, I just can't abide boss fights that last for ever and bloodborne. Bloodborne just wore me down with it's bleak environment.

Lies of P I hated after 10 minutes. Just didn't grab me at all.
