What are the 30 year old plus gamers playing?

After Outer Wilds, taking a lighter appraoch with Eiyuden Chronicles Hundred Heroes - spiritual successor to the Suikoden Series. It's weird having a 90's approach to a JRPG in 2020s (everyone is like 13, slightly clanky diaglogue and iffy continuity at times) but it's an enjoyable play

I started to play Outer Wilds a couple of years ago, I didn't finish it though. I have just started over and want to finish this time. It's such a great game. I have also purchased the Echos of the Eye DLC, so want to play that too.

I'm 38, I play single player games about 85% of the time while the other 12% is co-op (mainly FFXIV and D4) and the remaining 3% I dabble in some competitive multiplayer. I'm a big JRPG and survival horror fan, I generally prefer Japanese games. I also play sims like Football Manager (a lot, and I mean a lot of FM), Train Simulator and a bit of Flight Simulator too.

I don't really watch TV outside of sport, so all my downtime is gaming or playing around in Godot.

I play a mix of old and new, these are the games I have beaten so far in 2024:

- Borderlands 3
- Persona 4 Golden
- Hogwarts Legacy
- Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers
- Final Fantasy VII Remake
- Final Fantasy I PR
- Last Epoch
- Dragon's Dogma 2
- Cyberpunk 2077
- Sekiro Shadows Die Twice
- Slay the Spire
- Dead Island 2
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker
- Elden Ring
- Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree
- The Last of Us Part 1
- Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail
- Diablo IV Season 5
- Sonic Mania
- Sonic 3 & Knuckles AIR
- Silent Hill 2 Remake
- Diablo IV Season 6
- Metaphor Refantazio
- COD Black Ops 6
- Resident Evil 2 (1998)

I'm currently patiently waiting for STALKER 2 and I'm playing Dragon Quest III HD2D on my Steamdeck at the moment.

You're in for an utter treat. It took me 3 different attempts to "click" with it (mostly I wasn't focused before) - but it's a genuinely amazing game.

If you need any help I can fully recommend the reddit group. I didn't use them, but joined after I finished, but they are amazing at "helping" with literally zero spoilers or ruining the ride.

I haven't done the DLC yet (waiting for a sale) - let me know how you get on :)

I started playing Civilization 6 a couple of months ago not realising 7 was coming out in January. I'm 39 and remember watching my dad play Civ 2 when he was around my age and it feels quite nostalgic. I'm terrible at the game but I've been having a lot of fun.
I've always been a Call of Duty player but took a few months away from it over summer but back enjoying BO6. I'm far better at BO6 than Civ 6 that's for sure!

I got the Spacers choice edition free on Epic ages ago. I started it but also had a couple of other games on the go, neither of which I did much else with. I might start it again whilst I'm off over Xmas.

I remember firing up Civ 2 when I was younger (42 now) and still recall the first time I ever built Leonardo's Workshop not really understanding what it would do and then watching all my units automatically upgrade

Really enjoying playing the OG Watch Dogs atm. The Chicago setting is ***chefs kiss***

Well it's the big one tonight for Train Sim (World) fans.

Just Trains West Coast Main Line Over Shap add on DLC should be on Steam in about 20 minutes. Preston to Carlisle with a Class 87 tap changer electric loco. Should separate the men from the boys, just used to maxing the throttle and letting the control systems do the work.

Just finished AC Mirage. Knew exactly what to expect. Glad I didn't pay full whack. Easy 30 hours of fun.

Considering V rising next.
Those were my thoughts on Mirage, enjoyable game for the 30 hours and it definitely felt a bit more like an older school AC game that we'd have got in 2015 or so.

Loving Spiderman 2 at the moment, playing on my new Pro but I'll be honest I can't really tell the difference from my OG.

Side by sides on Digital Foundry make it look more noticeable obviously.

What I will say is this console is a lot quieter and no coil whine which is worth a lot to me.

Regardless it's a great game, some annoying forced stealth sections as usual but exploring NYC is a treat.

Initially I thought the wing suit was rubbish and questioned why they've added this, but man once you get going with it it's a blast.

Chaining jumps from a building, swinging and flying and then using other powers to boost speed or height and tie it in with updrafts... sometimes it all comes together perfectly and nails the feeling of freedom and being Spider-man, at least to me. Other (most) times I just face plant into the side of a building though :)

Edit: oops I didn't realise this was a PC Game thread, ah well.
