What are the 30 year old plus gamers playing?

I keep looking at Subnautica..its one that I want to play. But I just cant pull the trigger on the buy button.

The thing thats holding me back is the lack of multiplayer. If they could just add multiplayer so that I can team up with the missus, I would hit that buy button in an instant.
That I can understand - I was the same. I used the £40 refund money to buy Subnautica for £15 as I'd been following it for a while. Even without MP it is an excellent buy. MP is part of the roadmap iirc...just got to wait I guess.

I'm not sure I buy my reaction time has dropped off enough that it makes me a bad gamer (at 41). Can we do a little experiment?

Now, I believe it used to be around 210ms in my youth, surely 40ms isn't that big a difference?

It says I'm in the top 71 percentile, which looking at the graph, I think it means I'm better than average, which seems a good result for my age.

Am I just abnormal or do you guys around my age score similar as well? Does gaming help keep us sharp?

first time av ever took a test like that. got me beat by 50ms exactly, am 36 i must not be aging well lol

Path of exile for the action and loot.
BF1 later to own those kids again
Civ 6 later to build and discover the world.

I suspect I be around for years to come for gaming as I age.
Reflexes dont age as they grow like wine (not the sour ones).
at my age 52 I am better than I was 10 years ago.

dancy my lady as darkness is coming trough the ages of tears raining down from the young ones screams" I cant believe I got owned again!

lol I just tried this test and I got 249ms and I'm 44 this year... Yet I know I am now worse at games today the 15 years back, I am slower in racing games, I'm not as sharp in FPS, and I cannot hold my own as well as I did, so whatever it means, I dunno..

But i enjoy gaming still.

Fallen out with gaming at the moment, don't know why, i'm finding myself just loading csgo and playing a DM or Casual, but i am looking forward to Mass effect retribution, so may pick that up, but in general i just don't feel like i have the time to throw hours into a game anymore :EDIT: i'm 35 btw

Im just going to assume that test is horrible biased inaccurate, probably favours whoever is closest to that server, maybe screen refresh rate and so on

277ms which is awful and I know my reaction is not great so that figures. As Im clicking Im realising I was already too late but one third of a second seems way too high

The Highway Code assumes about 0.68 seconds reaction time
or 680ms so you're all amazing by that measure

reactions of a domestic cat is no higher then 72ms apparently

Civ 5.

Recently caught the addiction bug with that. Playing the whole world map, heaps of other civs on there too. Time between turns a good 10 seconds now with it being later in the game. Game seems CPU bound for once. So the 1080 gtx just sits there idling really. Knew I should've gone for the 6700k instead and clock the pants off it!

I can't imagine the test and time would go through the server, it would be browser based surely? Monitor refresh rate? Really?

Why do you think it's bad? (We're a quarter of a second, not a third too) Seems reasonable to me. Lines up with other tests I've done in the past and as you see, for an average driver, the Highway code assumes two thirds of a second.

I would think that's because with the test, you sat, poised, waiting for this to happen. If someone runs out in front of you on the road, it might be more of a surprise and you have to move your foot to the brake pedal.

average 188ms at age 38

Around 70ms faster then I was in my 20s which is weird

Also I feel my reactions are better in game. I bit like being crap at maths unless money is involved LOL
