A mate of mine has an XFX 8800gts up for grabs which hes only had for few weeks. Works fine but I'm wondering how good XFX's warranty service is and how generally reliable their products are?
Anyone got any info?

My last 2 cards have been XFX and they've proven to work perfectly, not saying that they all do, you do hear of certain cards having problems but every manufacterer will have that.

No idea about the warranty services, i expect it'll be largely through the retailer within the first year, unless its someone like BFG who have lifetime warranties, but if you overclock the card or it fails because of a dust build up no one will give you a new one.

I have 2 8800GTX now

used to have 7950gx2 etc etc

all XFX and have no issue with it so far

Well that sounds promising. Whats the warranty like on these cards and any idea what XFX like to deal with if summat goes wrong?

According to gibbo, the ppl who tend to xfx's warranty likes to reject faulty products. But i have never came across such a problem.

XFX here too, had bad experiences in the past but to quote someone else :

I once had a bad experience with a girl - didn't make me gay.

Got my GTX at a very discounted price so I gave them another try and I've had no problems whatsoever.

Enermax have treated me and others I have spoken to like a bum on numerous occasions but yet many here have had no such problems and recommend them.

Customer support is all relative tbh. It totally depends on who you talk to. One guy at one place maybe a nonce but another guy at the same place might actually know what he's talking about and be extremely helpfull. I know OCUK don't like XFX due to bad customer support/relations or something so don't stock there product anymore which is obviously there own decision and right to do so. With reference cards such as the 8800gts/x which are all made at the same factory go with a brand you trust and not what someone tells you is great/owns bla bla bla. Someones love affair is someone elses nightmare - wise words tbh.

Indeed. I have asked several questions towards XFX's help desk before, and they answered all of them within 2 working days. It totally depends on who is it you get yourself stuck with ( a short tempered, lazy person or a helpful person ).

what was the problem with the xfx 7900gt cards, what was the outcome, and I assume this doesn't effect the 8800gts/gtx range?

is that horrible customer service when OCUK didnt want to deal with it themselves (despite being legally obliged to?) and instead palm it off onto xfx?

and i just be interested to hear the 7800GTX owners view as to what it did wrong to upset him?

The 7900GTs had a couple of major problems involving memory chips and voltage regulators that ended up resulting in a 5% failure rate for those cards. The problem was never resolved, the 7900GT was mostly put out to pasture when the 7950s rolled around.

Forgot to mention; This problem does not exist in the 8800s, so don't worry.

From what I read on OcUK's support page (and from what Andy in tech has told me the numerous times I've had to call OcUK), OcUK only usually handle RMAs themselves within the first 30 days of purchase.

After that, it's usually better for them, the manufacturer, and the customer if it's sent to the original manufacturer for replacement or repair instead.

I cant speak about the customer service because i have never had to use them but then again i never will because my warranty is with the company that built my machine.

Just a thought actually the company that I got my machine from would buy Lots of GFX cards so if they are using XFX cards I can only presume they are quite happy with the service and reliability of them

:D

theres nothing wrong with the 8800XFXs, and your mate works does it not? So chances are you wont be needing RMA, as problem often show sooner rather than later... just dont overclock card :)
