What book are you reading...

I plan on reading the salvation series at some point :)

Although it may take me a while to get round to it seeing as the trilogy I'm currently working through are 1200 pages per book

Think I read the first one a while back but had not noticed he released the others, will read the first again then buy the other two ebooks. :) Love having hundreds of books on my phone! :D

Just started Redemption Ark by Alastair Reynolds. Recently finished Revelation Space and loved it, so looking forward to getting into this one. By all accounts it's even better!

This is a great trilogy, I burned through all three books.

Also in the revelation space universe, the prefect and chasm city are excellent. Outside the revelation space universe, pushing ice and house of suns are great.

Damien Lewis "Churchill's Secret Warriors". What a bunch of absolutely madmen! It mainly features the story of Anders Lassen and the origin of the SBS but it's absolutely mental what those guys did. If you made it into a film then it'd be laughed out of cinemas as being totally ludicrous. Taking an island with Greece's second largest city and a huge garrison of enemy troops with one jeep and 40 bad-asses. Wow!

I finished another Hornblower book last night- Flying Colours. Again, very good.

I'm not looking forward to finishing the Hornblower books- I think I only have about four left to read.

Must resist the temptation to go straight onto the next one...

Finished Hero of Ages last week, the final book in the Mistborn trilogy. Struggled a little with the first hundred pages or so but once it finds it's feet I'd say it's definitely the most compelling of the trilogy. As much as I loved Well of Ascension it did feel a little static at times where HoA continues to build itself up to a hugely satisfying conclusion.

Despite the few issues I have with Sandersons writing style, I really enjoyed the trilogy overall. Bit reticent to start Alloy of Law, the time jump not being something I like the idea of but who knows.

Wax and Wayne books are definitely worth a read if you liked the first three. Another Wax book on the way as well.

Anorexia and other Eating Disorders: how to help your child eat well and be well: Practical solutions, compassionate communication tools and emotional ... support for parents of children and teenagers...

I got a ton of books on the side waiting to be read.

Currently reading "A Dark Forest" by Cixin Liu.

Book 3 "Death's End" is next.

Then I have these to read:

Left Hand of Darkness
The Dispossessed
Reaper's Gale: The Malazan Book of the Fallen 7

I started the Malazan Book of the Fallen back at Uni in 2000 and in 21 years I am only on book 7!

I did go about a decade where I wasn't reading at all though.

Picked it up again in the last few years.

Currently reading Exile by R.A. Salvatore.

Just finished Unspeakable Things by Laurie Penny, which was good but not great. I have Hip Hop Wars by Tricia Rose up next (I read some of it for my dissertation, but I really need to go back and finish it - it's pretty damn insightful).

My to-read stack only ever seems to grow =|

The Secret of Excalibur, Andy McDermott. Basically Matthew Reilly type adventures around the world. Good fun switch brain off read.

Reading it alongside Wheel of Time book 9. I thought the slog was books 7-10? I've actually enjoyed 7 and 8 was one of my favorite WOT books lol. Enjoying 9 after about 100 pages in.

Redemption Ark by Alastair Reynolds. About 20% through and loving it. By all accounts, it's better than Revelation Space, so I've got high hopes as that was excellent!

Finished Alloy of Law over the weekend. I quite enjoyed it, but at no point did it pull me in as much as any of the books in the original Mistborn trilogy. I'm not entirely sold on the steampunk style setting and the characterization (never the strongest aspect of Sandersons style anyway) feels very basic, though that may just be a symptom of the book being half as big as any of the previous entries. I trust that he's building to something a little more resplendent however so I'll pursue the rest and see where it goes. Going to start on the Shadows of Self this weekend.

I just finished Tales Of Ten Worlds by Arthur C Clarke- scifi short stories. It's really good, not a dud in it. Highly recommended.

Now onto Flashman At The Charge by George MacDonald Fraser, which is childish fun, so far.

Yet another Hornblower book finished- The Commodore. Another excellent read.

Only two left to read now.

Tell me how you got on with Admiral Hornblower.

I can't decide which is my favourite. Commodore is great as is Lieutenant Hornblower (the West Indies one?). The TV show is really faithful to the books in most regards.
