What car did you learn to drive in?

My instructor had what i think was a 1.4 Mk1 focus, changed to a 1.6 Mk2 the week before my test.

My dad took me out in my own car a few times as i bought it 4 months before passing, that was the Capri 2.8i in my sig which i still own. I also had a go in his Mk3 Supra Turbo and his Volvo 940 estate.

I have to say I never expected such a varied response here. I should add I was also driving in my partners left hand drive Fiesta Titanium while learning.

1997 fiat punto which was brand new at the time

I went out a few times in my car which was a 1992 Renault 19

1st Instructor had a 97 1.0 Micra, hateful thing it was.
Next one had a diesel Clio and that was not much better.

Worst one of the lot was a Citroen C1 for a driver awareness course

That was scary on the M1 in heavy rain to say the least!

One thing for sure is you learn good clutch control in the woefully underpowered shoe boxes!

Training with my Dad was in an old '67 Mini. When I took proper lessons it was in a G reg 1.8 Diesel Fiesta.

Corsa

My instructor had a 2006/7 Corsa, assuming it was the 1.2 petrol. However, I spent most of my time in my own car, a 1990 1.0 Micra which had 48bhp and was brutal.

Joking aside, I actually preferred my car to the Corsa.

Learnt unofficially (was 13/14 ) in a Fiat 126 on a mates field, fantastic fun

Had a few lessons in a Fiesta and passed my test in a Ford Escort MkIII. 26 years ago!!!

Oooh the original tractor engine, N/A diesel. A friend had an Escort with that engine which we drove from Devon to Scotland... took a VERY long time in a car that struggled to get to 70

Instructors car was a Ford Fiesta diesel (can't remember the engine) and mine was a 1.2 Corsa.
