What country would you move to, if you had the opportunity?

As a fan of tech I'd still want quick access to modern tech as quickly as possible. So I'd end up in the UAE or Singapore probably.

Still get access to beaches and year round warm weather. I'd probably prefer other parts of the world like say Patagonia as an ideal escape but then I lose the quick access to tech.

The thing that would put me off NZ or Australia would be the sheer remoteness, you take Europe for granted in the sense that you can hop on a plane and visit a variety of places and cultures within a couple of hours.

Just managed to get my Finnish Citizenship. Born in England to an English Dad and Finnish Mum. Taken a few years to do and never felt the need before until Brexit. Luckily I got baptized in Finland and so got a social security number. but had to jump through a lot of hoops. Only really did it for my son, so he can have an EU passport. He is up for national service as well. :)

Good on you. My kids also have dual nationality, such an important thing to offer them if you're able to.

If Scotland gets a dose of the stupids and votes for independence I'll be moving to England if I can. I'm too old to be able to move elsewhere without megabucks but were I younger I'd be looking at Canada and New Zealand.

Genuine question - how often have you left the UK, for what periods of time, where to, and when last?

France and The Lebanon. (Paris and Beirut, Paris several times, longest a fortnight, and three weeks in Beirut). I have what to me is an idyllic life here, so the desire to go a wandering is almost none existent.

Interesting, explains a lot tbh. Do you want to go travelling more?

At least you've been to some places. Love Beirut. Seems quite a limited and small amount of experience though, probably explains your fear of "the foreigners".

The only continent I haven't been on yet is Antarctica.... It's on my bucket list! That said I don't want to live there!

I love seeing the world, glad I managed to do it more when I was younger and family -free. Only travel abroad 3-4x a year now unfortunately. The joys of parenthood and demanding career!

I lived in Vietnam for 9 years, amazing place, both the wife and I would live there forever if the visa situation allowed.

Now in Greece for the last 2 years, not as great as Vietnam, but still much better quality of life over the UK.....

I also spent 5 years in China, (Tianjin) in the early 2000's.... I would not recommend China.

France or Italy I think. I love Ireland and think often of moving there, but it's a bit wet a lot of the time. I would be more than happy with a remote loch side house in the highlands of Scotland though.

Nz - know the language, like the culture, my hobbies are well supported.
Canada - as above, cold may be annoying but yolo
Japan - absolutely love Japan. Don’t know if I want to learn a 3rd language.

We went to Lapland couple of years ago. I felt like I could easily move out there. We went to yallas which is further north.

The freshness and sheer beautifulness of the place was awesome. I also loved the outdoors vibe there. Pretty much aurora was out every night.

Yes I reckon I could move there. But then I heard summer brings massive amounts of midges.
