What did you do to your bike today?

Had it dyno'd

First run was with the power commander downloaded map, second is with a rough map from my tuner, gained 9bhp. He's since altered the map again and smoothed it out, should be gaining 3-4bhp from the changes he made.

Dad's 2015 R1 made 159bhp stock on this dyno, with a simple throttle map changes it made 165bhp (Yamaha standard throttle mapping doesn't let the throttle hit 100%) but the tuner's software wouldn't flash the 2015 R1 ECU so no fueling has been touched.

105 at the wheel? wouldn't mind testing mine for a laugh

160 seems right for the r1 (it might limit full throttle/power in first 2 or 3 gears,my zx10r does)

Yea at the wheel, that's with full Yoshimura R55 exhaust and a tune. I was hoping for more, I'll admit, with the changes he made it should be closer to 110 now, but then how often do I full throttle all the around the rev range.

The R1 was done in 4th, all limitations were removed for the 165 run.

The absolute biggest changes were with the throttle, because it's ride by wire it is constantly adjusted and stock it feels dumb compared to the changes he made, it's now a quick turn and opens the throttle earlier and at varying amounts, even without fueling changes this was day and night. I can now be leant over on a corner and shut the throttle, then get back on it and it's perfectly smooth, no jolt or movement whatsoever.

Recommend this to anyone.

We don't use RON here, it's some other classification, I'm fairly sure they equal themselves out.

I run my bike on 93 which is equivalent to 97ron in the UK

Picked up a nail/tack in my rear during the Ride of Respect at the weekend :( Mind you, first ever in 7 odd years of riding, so won't grumble.

It's in the middle, so I've heard it can be fixed - any thoughts on that? I picked up a repair kit from the old George Whites in Swindon, one with plastic inserts, are these decent for a long term fix; or better off taking it to a garage for a proper fix?

It's a VERY slow puncture by the way...

Been trying to find a replacement throttle grip assembly for my ybr 125 for ages and nothing I've bought has been right they've all be for pull type setups and mine is a twin cable.

For some reason I thought I'd check out some YBR 250 spares and it appears that I may have a 250 throttle body on my bike as they seem to be twin cable set ups, is that even possible?

try wemoto

Fitted a fly screen to the MT-07, just for looks rather than wind protection. It actually seems to put all of the wind right onto my arms now though, so it may have to go...

i thought high octane was purely for reducing the chance/effects of detonation not for "power"

Sort of. Higher octane fuel resists detonation more, so if an engine is knock limited (i.e. the ignition has been retarded from the optimum power making point to suppress detonation) then high octane fuel would allow the engine to make more power if the ignition is optimised (either manually or automatically through a knock sensor).

Likewise, higher octane fuel could allow an engine to safely run a higher compression ratio or more boost if super/turbocharged, gaining power in both cases.

Running high octane fuel in an engine that is not knock limited, or in one without adaptive ignition timing won't produce any more power, and could actually produce slightly less power in some cases.

Took the SV in to get the clutch done. It's only taken them 6 weeks to get the F'ing part in. Not only that after I keep telling them I need another bike to get back to work...they tell me the bike has already been given out but here...have this 250 scooter. A F'ING SCOOTER.

Needless to say I am not a happy bunny. Won't be going back there again
