What did you do to your bike today?

Been doing exploratory insurance quotes again... :o

£500 fully comp, 10k miles a year, licence held for 1 year (which will be correct as of October) with 1 years NCD... on a BMW K1200S. They're getting nice and cheap, down to £3500 for a 2005/2006 model, 50ish mpg.

id go tpft if it were me,if you do damage it you can get most bits second hand fairly cheaply and fix it up

they are a pretty tough bike to begin with

Quick question, am I OK using a bit of wd40 in my ignition? Not loads obviously.

Key has all of a sudden become very stiff going in. Bike does get left out in the rain during the day at work and it is 10 years old now, I'll try my spare in the morning too but think it's the barrel.

Dammit! You've just reminded me to spray some WD40 in my sticky indicator switch. Only sticks going right, too many overtakes! :D

Yeah it's fine to use on that, it'll help a bit.

Few quick pics of today, Primed then sprayed Satin Black then a bit of lacquer & fitting. Sits a bit high at the front for my liking but it'll do for now as running without one in this **** summer on these **** roads isn't a good idea.

Didn't turn out to bad considering I used a couple of cheap **** cans from the local Pound shop. :p

Looks better now with a slimmer mudguard

Youll get a better shine once you've let the paint harden off for a few weeks then t cut it

I've ordered some more Satin Black but from Amazon this time in one of those Bundle No postage deals. I'll do it again & build up the coats & do the rear & some mirrors I have as well. Being Satin Black you can get away with a lot & it has given the front guard an old look so I'm pretty happy doing the rest of it. Need to make some brackets for the front indicators & get a 2 lead flasher box that can cope with the LEDs. Still looking about for the right single seat as well I'm not going to bother cutting down the original as it will never look right no matter how I do it, I need my old school leather saddle with Massive chrome springs under it mounted on a black plate. I think this is one of those things that you just don't stop doing once you've started, I just want to go further & further into it then when I get there I want to do more & go further with it. Sure is a good hobby I can tell you that.

I can see how this is going to go. This will be the bike in a years time:

Went to get petrol half a mile down the road, odometer said 27 miles by the time I got home. Housemate thought I'd died.

LOL same! Since getting this CBR600RR I seem to find myself taking the long....long route back home. Slight detour of 20 miles or so :p

We all do that, surely? Just nipping out for some fuel, won't be long...

An hour later... :D

Heads up if anyone is looking for a Tomtom rider 400, Halfrauds have them at 20% off at the moment, £256.
