What did you do to your bike today?

it always seems to pee it down when I go out:( been dry all day

had another wally tailgating me aswell when it was biblical rain, ended up slowing right down and he passed me,morons

EDIT: on a 30mph road I might add

Kill switch back fire... those flames soon get tail gaters off your butt

need to rig up something that drops a huuuuge oil slick behind me,that and a few big nails/spikes

they do it on purpose cos its raining

IC3 - recently bought an SV650s as my first bike too - definitely worth the trip, I got a tidy 10k 57 plate in blue for £2175 and that picture looks as clean if not cleaner - definitely worth the trip up to view - the ride back will be worth it ;).

How do you that? Do you clutch in press the kill switch and release the clutch or?
Edit So you just rev it up, press kill switch for a second or two and release it. Shame I didn't know about this before... :(

Nice! I'm never lucky at buying, more luck at selling though!

Awesome on an inline 4..even better on a twin

You dont need to rev it, make sure the bike is at running temp hold a constant throttle at anything above 4k. Keeping the throttle open flick the kill switch on and off. A couple seconds betwern off and on will have a bigger bang and flame and higher revs the same effect. Have fun. Your welcome :D;)

Any other sites with bike listings apart from: Ebay, Gumtree, MCN, biketrader uk?

My mate who's a mechanic told me it only works on bikes with carbs, it won't work with injected engines... is that true? :(

Yep, the kill switch cuts the power to the fuel injectors so no fuel enters the cylinders or exhaust.

What year did the SV 650s go to fuel injection? I have an 03 plate and think it has carbs, actually no im sure!

03 when they switched from curvy to pointy. 07 they switched to the twin spark engine which is the same as the 03-06 except it has 2 spark plugs per cylinder to help reduce emissions.

Carbed bikes are vacuum fed so presumably if the engine is still turning, and the throttle open, there's still a vacuum so still fuel being pulled in. Lots of fuel, no combustion for a while, then suddenly a spark.... big boom :D:p

The vacuum fed thing messed with my head head when I took my tank off the CB, I expected fuel to come pouring out but it didn't :p

Oh and I tested out my alpkit brukit (basically a jetboil at half the cost) and can see it being very useful when camping. It boiled 750ml of water in the cold outside very quickly, deffo worth finding space for one if you're camping on the bike.

Received my knock off rizoma mirrors and adaptors from the2wheels.
mirrors look good and will massively clean up the slight insect look that the front end of the SV has, but the adaptors they say are for the SV definitely in no way will work so I'm going to have to drill out the mounting holes then we should be cooking on gas!

I went for a long ride today, then finished it off by going around b'ham city center. I've been wanting to rive through the tunnels for a while - even a 125 doesn't sound too bad when revved through there :D.

What I find hilarious is that having L's on a bike seems to goad people into driving stupidly. I've driven through those tunnels for years, and the traffic is always slow. Today, I saw multiple people speed up to at least 55-60 in the 40 tunnels just to get past me and cut in front(!) It's easy to see coming, so there no danger, I guess a learner and a biker is just too much :D.

2005 iirc russell? mine's injection (57 plate)...

Shame, would be nice to toast some audi bumpers on the morning commute...

Yeah mine is the curvy one!! Once I have passed my test, I will be riding it home. The shop said that when they fit the restrictor they will clean the carbs alongside :D As it has been sitting a while though, it started with no issues though.

Need to take my Airbox and mess around with the fast idle. The automatic choke never worked on the sv since I got it and has never really bothered me, but considering I'm keeping it for a few years more I want to get it right.

Going by what I've seen the Internet, the STVs do there dance when ignition is turned on so the cam is working. Seems I just have to adjust the fast idle screw which is hard to get to and need to take off the air box. Not really all that hard work.

Tom, have you done the TPS adjustment yet?

Not yet but it is on my list might give it a go tomorrow if it warms up a bit just been out to change some bolts over and my hands are like ice!

What year is yours? The idle screw should be accessible from the left hand side of the frame as you sit on the bike no need to remove the air box if it's a k3 to k6.
