What did you do to your bike today?

Went to change the horn for a bigger one.....

IMG_20160503_155112.jpg

Turns out it's behind the headlight. To get to it you need to take the rear fairing off to get to the front lower fairing bolts.

Once the lower fairing is off you can get to the bolt that holds on the front side fairing.

Then you need to take the mirrors off to take the screen out to get to the screws in the nose.

Then you can finally take the side off to get to the horn....I've now found that there is not enough room behind the headlight for the new horn... Now got to try and work out where to mount the new one, and probably extend the wires for the horn.

Just took the left caliper off again. The lever is feeling solid and not being knocked back anymore, but the right hand disk is getting a fair bit hotter than the left when braking.

Get tired of fixing brakes now.

Lol that's how I felt yesterday

Doesn't really matter if your braking? If you ride a while without braking then touch each disc to maksure they ain't binding

I thought you'd crashed it at first look!

That's a hell of a job just to remove the horn!

Same here it looks a right mess, Think once I had found out where it was & how awkward removing the old one was I would have just mounted the new one elsewhere & forgot about the old one.

Had both my bikes out today, Took the XR250R for it's first road trip just about local in case I had to push it back but it ran pretty well apart from getting bogged down at the end of it's throttle range, Carb clean & tweak should sort that.
Came back home & just had to go out on the Fazer for some Speed & some cornering, Damn I love riding that bike.

Shed alarmed, Chained together x 3, Alarmed Disc lock on my Fazer & the Fazers own alarm active & the Yard/Shed/Shed door/Jitty covered by my Cams/security system, think that should cover it. :p

Look at them all cozy & snuggled up together. :D

Bloody hell 4T5, I thought taking my bike out the shed was a pain in the arse because I need to come down a ramp but that looks murder. Where do you even start ? lol

What alarm do you have for the shed if you don't mind me asking ?

**** that.

Having to unlock my side gate and maybe pull the cover off if I could be bothered to put it on after work is more than enough for me every morning.

That pic makes it look 10 times worse than you think it is. :p

Both locks are easy to get off same as the disc lock then I just grab the Honda by the grips & pull it straight out onto the yard, It's only a 250 remember so doesn't weigh owt. It gets lent up against the fence if I'm going out on the Fazer & the Honda goes back in the shed.
Putting them back in I just put the Fazer in then just walk the Honda in backwards holding onto the grips.
There's a lot more room either side of the bikes you can't see I just put them real close once they are in so I can chain them together & take advantage of the Fazers alarm on both bikes.

They're fine after riding a while and not using them, but when I do use them, the right disk is noticeably hotter. No idea if it has always been like that, but am worried about it now. Last thing I want is for one pad to disappear when riding through Scotland in June. :(

Have you already had both calipers off & cleaned all the pistons properly using the piece of wood between the pads method ? If so you must have left a bit of grit or summit on one of the pistons that's making it work less efficiently than tuther side. Take the duff side off again & clean the pistons again.

Yep, did that on Sunday. Did try tonight again with right hand one but ran out of light.

I suppose the one that's getting hot could be the one that's actually working properly and the other isn't making proper contact, don't know.

Will see how it is tomorrow again, maybe reseating and blowing out the right one has fixed it... hopefully.

Going to have to do all round checks soon I think. The Astra is in the a garage needing front disks, rear springs, and a warning light sorting. I was going to use the car for a 500-600 mile round trip to Norwich and back on Friday but I'm not sure the car will be ready in time.

I will be coming back down on Saturday ready for the meet on Sunday!

Oil level checked, tyre pressures checked, chain greased and tension checked and clutch lever and cable oiled up. Cam chain was tensioned a few days ago

There shouldn't be a problem with her but a little worried as the last longer run she did was on the way home when I bought her and broke down twice. That issue has been fixed and she has been fine since though (was in December)

Took mine to Triumph today. They thoroughly checked the brakes and can't see any issue, the guy said all is normal and wearing nicely. They also checked for warped disk, sticking and piston operation, checked the error codes, plus they bled it for me and didn't charge which was nice.

Seemed fine on the way back. Maybe their bleed did the trick.
