What did you do to your bike today?

It's probably more like 12-13k miles, still a bit long I know :D

The oil was pretty clean, just very dark. £70 all in, not bad for a service including spark plugs. Would have been £10 cheaper if Halfords had 4 of the spark plugs in stock, they had 2 iridium plugs and 3 non iridium plugs in stock

Finally fitted my new exhaust, just waiting on a new battery now then i can ride it for the first time since November.

Nice! we need a sound clip when you get the battery sorted :)

Found the issue with my chain, no seized links at all but I did find this.

Not sure if you can make it out but there's a link there where the side plate is raised compared to the rest, not sure how it's happened as it's not the connecting link which I could understand if I hadn't flared the rivets properly but it corresponds with the tight spot in my chain when it reaches the sprocket.

I'm going to try raising a dispute with the seller I got it from on eBay as that seems very much like a manufacturing defect.

I've got a new DID chain and sprockets on the way anyway so that'll be a job for next weekend if it's dry.

Do you normally have that much oil on the chain? Mine's much more dry than that.

Lube does that too, that's just a normal winter chain tbh.

Lube

Wax

So long as it's well lubed I'd rather have a chain covered in a protective layer of lube than a clean chain that gets rusty. Unless you're cleaning it every week you aren't going to keep a chain clean through winter.

The problem with wax is that it is no longer a protective layer once it mixes with road salt and grit. It eventually becomes an abrasive paste.

I don't think you can avoid regular cleaning and lubing unless you're either not too fussed about chain life or have a Tutoro/Scottoiler.

Take that baffle out, let it roar. :D:cool:

I've not had to adjust mine for a long time, did it yesterday, all it needed was a quarter turn on the adjusting screws. Mine was new in June, I did the normal adjusting a couple of times after it was fitted but since then barely any adjustment needed.
