What did you do to your bike today?

That garage insurance approved/recognised? Looking for something like this for my other half, as her bike is currently in the garden shed, could do with something a bit more secure.
It's got several certificates:

- LPCB (Loss Prevention Certification Board) - which means it can be insurance approved and could help to reduce the cost of your insurance.**
- Secured by Design – meaning that the shed has been approved by the Police, because the shed has been designed to be highly secure.
- UKLA (UK Locksmiths Association) – which means the sheds have been assembled and the locks have been tested.

Regarding whether insurance class it as a garage, yes and no - depends on the insurer. For my cb400 I asked when renewing and the underwriter didn't my class it as a garage but they quoted cheaper than I'd got quoted with it garaged on the comparison site.

Principal said they class it as a a garage when I checked on quotes for my tuono, which reduced the cost by about £200.

Some places class a shed as 'garaged' but these are a lot more secure, so not everywhere will class it as a garage but I reckon a fair amount will.

For me it was partially insurance reasons and partially that I wasn't ever going to keep a mint condition Aprilia outside over winter :D

They hold their value too, I've seen a few for sale used for 3/4 of the new cost.

It passed MOT with only 1 advisory which I was aware of already... :D

Nearly 10k since May, the bike was Sorned the same day, as the MOT back in 2016.

Sorry buddy, not sure how I missed this. I'll be honest, they were some I had leftover in a 'tat' box in the garage. They were pretty identical to: http://ebay.eu/2j5DoMa

As I said though, I only had 4 bulb slots for the main dash lighting. All of which were T10 size :)

Cheers :) I've managed to retain the indicator LEDs which were T6.5 I think. Pretty sure the ones I need now are T10. The side stand and neutral lights can all be replaced as well so ordered 10

What did I do with my bike? Wrote it off and ended up with this nice souvenir:

I was riding along an A road when someone drove straight out of a side rode and into my path (turning right, across the lane I was riding along). I hit them straight in the driver side door. I managed to hit the brakes a few meters before impact, but must have hit them at 30mph. They pulled out just as I was pretty much at the side rode. I was lucky the impact only broke my radius - I had to have surgery to realign the bone and fix it in place... My muscles in my legs were not working properly for a few days, but thankfully have returned to normal. So I'm on the mend :D

Driver stopped and has subsequently admitted liability (not sure he really had much choice. Failed to give way, plain and simple). So that's something.

Thankfully it wasn't the S1000RR (which I had just recently sold to buy a house), but my trusty CBF600 which isn't worth much anyway.

Will be a few months before my wrist is better for riding I should think, but already thinking of my next ride. Thinking something with a V twin and Italian :D

Anyways, the reason I posted this is to say look after yourselves out there. There's a lot of people driving cars and not paying attention.

Thanks guys :) After almost 12 years without an off, it was a stark reminder for me how dangerous our hobby is. Still, as hobbies go, nothing comes close :D

Haha, yes, I see Aprilia seem to be the big thing on OcUK these days. I will definitely be test riding one when the time comes.

Found the issue with my chain, no seized links at all but I did find this.

Not sure if you can make it out but there's a link there where the side plate is raised compared to the rest, not sure how it's happened as it's not the connecting link which I could understand if I hadn't flared the rivets properly but it corresponds with the tight spot in my chain when it reaches the sprocket.

I'm going to try raising a dispute with the seller I got it from on eBay as that seems very much like a manufacturing defect.

I've got a new DID chain and sprockets on the way anyway so that'll be a job for next weekend if it's dry.

Did a full service on the CB400, it's been running a little rough recently and has been taking a while to start, plus it's been about 15k miles since the last oil change :o

So oil, oil filter, new iridium spark plugs and a check of the air filter (dirty but not majorly so). Spark plugs are a tank off job and one of them is a right ******* to get to!

Old plugs:

All running again now so at least I didn't bugger anything up :D
