What did you do to your bike today?

Narrowed my front wheel whistle down to the speed sensor by the looks of it. To be fair if it's still the original part at nearly 40k miles then it's done more than it's fair share considering how easy they seem to be to damage when removing and replacing the front wheel.

£25ish to replace so isn't going to break the bank either.

They tend to snap the plastic bits on the inside. Glad you found it mate, an easy swap!

Prone for the sv's. Mine needed another when I sold it on.

Ordered little reflector for my number plate to pass it's mot and metal bobbins for swingarm as my remus melted my plastic r&g bobbins lol.

Going to get a full service done too so ready to use to get to work and back.

Yesterday I uncovered my SV just to start it up and let it run for a bit. I spent a couple of minutes in the back doorway, literally just looking at it under the shelter... My god I love that bike :p It was a nice feeling to be honest. I want to change my car so much, but the bike, which i've had twice as long, and I'm now unrestricted, but the bike? No no, the bike is here to stay :)

Here's a couple of pictures just to show off :P

I get the urge to put some gold rim tape on mine every now and again but I'm not sure I'd have the patience to fit it and I'm useless at keeping my wheels anything less than crap covered.

Cleaned, lubed and adjusted my chain when I got home along with adjusting the clutch and generally removing some muck and greasing bits that should be greasy.

SV is back on the road, although I used blowtorch and did temporary fixes on some bits until new parts come via post. So the costs of replacing parts on the SV is
-Right front footrest hugger - £18
-Front footrests £11.50
-New crash bungs £35 (Right one is bent badly)
-Mirrors £Free (I've loads of spares)

Still undecided on the rear brake, the lever bent a bit and the footbit is smashed in from the bottom. But that's like another 35 quid and this one is still working.

A slight scratch on the engine casing, but nothing really bad. I realligned the front and rear wheels, so they're straight. Now only need to go out for a test ride and that should be it really. :)

Edit

FFS the handlebars are bent...
Washed it to see potential scratches, will use T-Cut on the tank as it has some marks from the bar end mirror. Nothing too deep, should look like new after I'm done with it. :D

Gave it a quick wash with what I had available as a "prep" for a proper wash this weekend. Also managed to diagnose a warning light on the Fuel Injection; eventually found the issue to be caused by an ECU plug that was making the ECU believe the lambda sensor was broken :D

Sorry to see you had a slide, good to see you're on the mend!

Don't mess about with the brake lever. You never know when you might need it in an emergency and £35 is nothing really. The 'bars shouldn't be too expensive either I would've thought, just a pain in the arse to replace.

It's not badly damaged, perfectly usable. Handlebars are easy to swap, 5 min job. :)

Weathers been kind today and had a few hours free this morning... would have been rude not to start scrubbing the new rear rubber in.

13 flipping degrees?! That's basically summer. Time to blow the cobwebs off. The 7 year old tyres could probably do with a change though, so could get a bit expensive.

Edit: It's raining now

Let's see some pics once installed! :)

Installed it today. Took way longer than expected. There is literally mm of clearance between the exhaust and the indicators. No chance of it fitting with the indicators horizontal, but I think it worked out nicely.

I actually quite like the angle, I think it flows nicely.

Lost the rear for a split second coming out of a corner, I thought the tires would have been warm enough (it's 85f here today) but I may have hit a bump. Had the gopro on but you really can't tell much apart from the bike angle moves slightly... that was scary.

Had my first run out on the tuono this year :D however, things did not go as expected...

Went to have a look in a dealer who had both a pre-vtec VFR800 and a CBR900RR just the other side of Chelmsford. 50 miles, about an hour away.

I get to the dealer but they're closed for lunch, so i pop over to Maldon down the road and gatecrash a car meet :D

Rode back to the dealer and the bike cut out/surged a couple of times, didn't really think anything of it.

Looked at the bikes quickly then went to ride home. Got a little way up the road and the bike started cutting out, stalling, and running really tough, back firing at 4k revs.

Pulled over just before i got the A12 as it wasn't even idling properly, would splutter and then die. Let it cool down and gave it another go, got about 500 years down the road, same thing - dying at any revs, like it was struggling for fuel (plenty of fuel in the tank though). Stopped in a village and let the bike cool down again, it then let me ride about 40 miles at between 50-70mph, taking it easy as i didn't want to be in the fast lane if it cut out again. Just coming up to the Dartford crossing and it started again :(

Gave it another 20 minutes, the bike was still not even able to idle, then it starts running ok... I go to pull away and 20ft later it's cutting out!!!:(

Doesn't she look pretty waiting for the AA man to come though...:p:rolleyes::(

Got a ride back in an AA flat bed truck. The first AA bloke got the bike running as the battery was dead and it ran perfect idling for 10 minutes.

So the issue only happens when the bike has been running for a while, so something is getting hot and making it run like that. The fuelling seems very rich, you can smell the petrol when it's running. Giving it throttle when it's cutting out just makes it cut out more, if you get my drift. Could be stator or the coils, but both cylinders are cutting out/running rough.

Any ideas?

Yeah that's another possibility, fuel pump is another thing I've seen suggested.

I'll start with a multimeter and test the the output from the stator, on the dash it was only showing 13.2v at 4000 rpm, should be over 14 apparently.

Not the best start considering good weather is around the corner :(, how's parts availability? Can you get most of the parts that might be faulty in the UK?

Congratulations! You've started to experience the 'character' and 'unique passion' of owning an Aprilia. Now just pray you don't need any parts ordered from the factory, otherwise your ownership experience will be complete this early on :)
