What did you do to your bike today?

Do it - best bike I've ever had, really really lovely. And my M50s have now bed in, so it stops like hitting a wall now!

The 2019 colour scheme has a nice white one, I was trying to buy that, but Triumph UK wouldn't allow the dealership to sell it :(

It's a shame the white one doesn't have the red subframe, the white R model is the best looking in my opinion.

I really struggle to justify buying a brand new bike without the modern electronics, which is why I'm waiting for Triumph to catch up with the competition by offering lean sensitive ABS/traction control, blipper and cruise on the Street Triple. The Duke 790 R has just been leaked too which offers a whole lot of bike for the money with Brembo, full adjustable WP suspension and lighter wheels over the standard model.

That was the bike I was originally going to buy, but when I got there, they had sold it - and my Wife actually steered my to the new RS :D

I think the RS has the perfect complement of gubbins, certainly for me (a road rider) - 5 riding modes, QS, TC, ABS, great stoppers, nice pogo sticks and racy tyres (though I'll probably switch to sports tourers when these are done). I can live without a blipper, and cruise control as the clutch is so light, and the throttle so so easy to hold steady - but I'll only do ~400 mile a day ride outs.

Have you tried riding 150km of motorway without cruise control after 6 hours of pure hairpins? It's hell!

On an older bike (if I got a used 2017 model for example) I can put up with things being outdated, but not if I buy new. I'd have to buy new too if I wanted a white one.

Sod that for a game of soldiers! I get bored doing a single unction on the M4 :D Even driving 2/3s of France recently, almost put my brain in to a coma!

Guess you'll have to get an RS as you 'play bike' and a GS for touring ;)

Took it to 25000 miles and ordered a battery.

It's a shame the Speed Triple is such a porker! Why can't someone make my ideal bike?

Couldn't agree more - she's a right fatty! If it wasn't for the weight gain, and under seat cans, I would have purchased one of those instead.

Yamaha Niken...? If you can lock the two front wheels when you're on one of those 150k stints, you might be able to relax :D

Order a new screen too :p

I only notice it when I'm cleaning it or taking pictures of it, or when someone points it out.
Keep meaning to get some glass polish on it.
To be fair when the tachometer reaches that part of the clock, I'm not looking at it. :D

The new duke comming with all the lean angle sensitive gizmos?

Checked the max lean angle recorder on the h2,

37 degrees left
36 degrees right.

I'm surprised I expected right to be much more given how much it feels banked over on round abouts

Cruise control is something I never realised how much difference it made.

Annoyingly every time I use it I keep comming across cages doing 68 or some other irritating speed

The old one already had it, it just has mickey mouse suspension and brakes. Bizarrely it has no cruise though.

Checked the camping gear and loaded that and the panniers on to the bike ready to go next Friday morning. I'd forgotten just how much heavier the bike gets fully loaded, and I haven't put any clothing or electronics in yet. I could never ride with a pillion (only done it once, literally around the block).

Yeah there's a reason touring bikes tend to have massive engines :p

Not my own cup of tea, tbh, although it is difficult to tell until the engine is under load. I think the very precisely 90 degree vertical end looks a little odd and inconsistent with the rest of the angles on the bike.

I just spent a good 2 hours tinkering with the suspension. Hopefully it makes a good change to the poor handling of the MT-10, because if it's due to the weight I will be chopping it in for a lighter bike soon.

The rear sag was comically out of spec with the default settings. I think you'd have to be about 60kg with gear for it to be right out of the box. the rear rebound is in a stupid place near the rear linkage too. It was such a pain to adjust that I ended up lying on the floor decompressing the rear suspension with my right leg up in the air to be able to adjust it.

Agreed, I love triples and I want a naked bike. The Speed nails most things apart from weighing as much as Dianne Abbots head, and I'd be after one 2-3 years old and clunky gearboxes with nasty shift quality seems to be the norm. Quite tempted by the XSR900, but much prefer the looks of the Speed Triple.

MV Brutale is also an interesting choice, but after a few years of Benelli ownership I'm quite liking the idea of something reliable with easy spares availability :)
