The Dreamcast came at a funny time for me really. I had only owned a Nintendo; but I saw an import Dreamcast at a computer fair, played all the arcade classics and couldn't resist. Bought one as soon as I could afford it (I'd done well in my GCSEs I think and managed to pursuade dad to borrow me the dosh). It killed the N64 for me (so I didn't play the later titles, or any that involved memory expansion
).
My Dreamcast was superceded by the Gamecube; I went back to my roots. It, however, still gets a few goes a year in the form of Shenmue I/II, Street Fighter, Soul Calibur, MSR and House of the Dead 2. Shame it never got a decent realistic footy game.
It was also the only console that all of my local mates owned, surprisingly. We're all with different consoles again.

I was a Sega/Sonic fanatic and got Sonic Adventure with it. It was the best gaming experience of my life. EVER. Plugging it in and playing one of my, still, favorite games for the first time. Shenmue was also a simply amazing game. Never completed II but the first was simply sublime.
Maybe some things get appreciated more as memories..
