What did you do when Dreamcast died?

The Dreamcast came at a funny time for me really. I had only owned a Nintendo; but I saw an import Dreamcast at a computer fair, played all the arcade classics and couldn't resist. Bought one as soon as I could afford it (I'd done well in my GCSEs I think and managed to pursuade dad to borrow me the dosh). It killed the N64 for me (so I didn't play the later titles, or any that involved memory expansion  ).

My Dreamcast was superceded by the Gamecube; I went back to my roots. It, however, still gets a few goes a year in the form of Shenmue I/II, Street Fighter, Soul Calibur, MSR and House of the Dead 2. Shame it never got a decent realistic footy game.

It was also the only console that all of my local mates owned, surprisingly. We're all with different consoles again.

Anyone notice how good 2D games looked on the Saturn and the Dreamcast. One of the main reason they looked so good on the the Saturn is because it was intended to be a dedicated 2D gaming console but 3D capabilities when Sega herd about the playstation. Playstation still was better at 3D gaming at the time but I herd the Saturn was amazing if you liked 2D beatem ups.

The 3D games on the Saturn were still good though like Sega Rally Virtual Fighter 1 and 2. That Die Hard beatem up which was a little like a 3D streets of rage. Fighters MegaMix and so on.

I loved the Dreamcast. I was only 7 or so (I'm 16 now and I can't remember when it was released) when I got mine.. Ahh I was sooo lucky. :D I was a Sega/Sonic fanatic and got Sonic Adventure with it. It was the best gaming experience of my life. EVER. Plugging it in and playing one of my, still, favorite games for the first time. Shenmue was also a simply amazing game. Never completed II but the first was simply sublime.

The Dreamcast gave me more laughs, and that warm feeling at the pit of my stomach, like no other ever has or will. :D Just thinking back to when I first played Sonic and beat the Egg Hornet makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. :D

Oh yeah, and lets not be forgetting Toy Commander. :D That was bloody AMAZING!!

So many good games. :D Hmmm.. Maybe I should buy another....

psssh Gamecube of course, didn't give in to the ******** naysayers even went as far as getting a Panasonic Gamecube the year after got a bog standard one. Only time I was annoyed with it was the 2 years I had to wait to buy a new game for it (Zelda TP) when my previous purchase was TimeSplitters 3.

I got an xbox after my Dreamcast, just seemed the best way to go as MS at least appreciate the need for originality, other than the Sony sequel juggernaut, their purchase of rare was a perfect example, games like viva pinata continue to show promise.

Having said that i sold my xbox a while ago without a replacement, yet my dreamcast is still doing me proud under the tv.

Sega bass fishing and powerstone 2 were university classics :D

I attended the launch of the Dreamcast and ended up coming home with about £500 worth of stuff. I still have about 10 games, 2 controllers and a boxed special edition of HOTD 2 with the lightgun up in the loft.

Can anyone say Samba De Amigo or ChuChu Rocket? :D
