What did you think when you first used / saw the internet ?

Can't really remember what I thought about the internet when I first started using it, I was too young to remember (think I was about 7).

Started playing an MMORPG called Legend of Mir 2 which then led to browsing the games website etc. :)
 
Well the first website i went to was the Cartoon Network page and it was all just text. I didn't take much notice of it really, but whenever i got 'into' computers, I then realised i needed the Internet. Can't remember really how i felt about it.
 
I got started on the Net when 14.4 kbps was the standard speed. My first thought was "I wish it would load faster!!!" :mad:

Gopher was still in use, Webcrawler was my search engine of choice, Geocities Chat was the best place to hang out, and Netscape was king.
 
As a 13 year old in 1998, my old man decided to get a computer from Time after seeing an advert in a newspaper.

We were hooked up with Easynet?? I think, who were excellent at the time for dial-up.

I remember searching Alta Vista for porn mostly and being shocked by what I saw. :p

I can't remember hearing much about the internet before then though. I think my dad had used it at college which was one of the reasons behind him getting the new computer.
 
I think it was back in 1995 or around then, because a year later I got my first hotmail account (still use it today! :eek:).

But yes as soon as the rest of my family left the house I was looking for lovely jubblies ;)
 
Oh the days when good German internet porn was free :D

Until a niche was seen in the market and you had to dial up a number that cost £1 per minute :eek:

MSN chat rooms were wicked. Writing scripts for chatroom bots was fun :)

They shut it down cos of all the dirty pervs :(
 
when i first started using the internet quite often i used to be on AOL. i used to go in the room, GamesChatUK. basically to kill time i guess. :p
 
Must have been about 1995. Compuserve forums were awesome. I didn't think the computer could possibly do anything cooler until I discovered Mosaic and got out onto the WWW. At first, I didn't know what to do - the thought that I could access millions of sites without Compuserve dividing all the information into sections and holding my hand through it was initially quite bewildering!
