What did you think when you first used / saw the internet ?

Freeserve was my first isp in 98 and i remember me and a mate winding up the good folk of churchusa ha ha you could go in the chatroom and say to themi have bad thoughts be could someone pray for me. And sure enough a personalised typed prayer would appear. They would bless you and all other stuff.

looked up an Actionman website (I was about 10 at the time), first online game I played was Midtown Madness 2, I called my parents in as, amazed, I drove around this city with another car being controlled by someone in america. :D

I remember having Demon internet 56k...my Dad's homepage was http://news.bbc.co.uk but i mostly used it for chatrooms and MSN.

The day i was one of the first in the area to get broadband was a day i'll never forget! Blueyonder i believe. \o/

I had just got Blueyonder and needed some parts for my pc so checked out this site:)

i first used it round a mates house (circa 1996) when his dad was at work and we couldnt do anything apart from browse some rubbish homepage and i thought it was crud.

I believe back in the day when i had "freeserve" the first thing i looked at was yahoo. I also remember they charged something like 5p a minute and the look on my dads face when the £200 phone bill came at the end of the month

lmao! Same thing happened to us and my parents went phsyco.

The first thing i remember of the internet was freeserve chatrooms, man they were awesome haha.

and badly photoshopped porn on this site thinking it was real

Was back in the very early 90s, so there wasn't much "internet" stuff out there, but I did look up in some BBSes for some hints on games... oh and I tried PCAnywhere for the first time too which was pretty sweet.

First thing i did was sign up my school friend's email to every newsletter i could find in the school library.

Then I got a hotmail address and was amazed (I didn't have a computer of my own at the time so was easily impressed :D)

Got a 14.4k then 33k then 56k Modem back in the mid/late 90's and did the normal chat rooms like most others but the best thing was when I discovered UO...

And like many others our phone bill was more often than not £200+!!!

I cherish my early internet memories. My mate Matt who had all the latest PC stuff also had the Internet circa 1994. We were 14. He was signed up to Demon. On showing the 'net to us, he showed us 'scat' and 'manrunoverbytank'. Way to break us into this world Matt!

A few years later, I had the 'net through Compuserve running at 28.8k. It was all about the chat rooms and 'The Jolly Roger Cookbook'.

I first saw the net in the form it is today in 1995. I thought "This is slow but has potential".

I'd been using BBS services since '84 in the days of the Commodore 64 though.

The first ever site i went on was a chat room which to this day i cant remember the name of it but it was well old and basic. I remember we were on dial up, and my parents were strict about us spending too much time on the pc so they limited me and my sister to 2 hrs per day each on it LOL, god they were harsh, but i found it fasinating lol
