What do you carry with you and how?

Yup, and co2 isn't great for the tubes either iirc. If you fix a puncture out on a road and reinflate with co2, once you get back home I think you're meant to deflate and pump back up with regular air.

I think it's due to inner tubes not being 100% 'air tight'.. A tube full of Co2 will go softer a bit faster than a tube full of regular 'air, a mixture of mostly oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide ' so not bad for the tube per se, but will need topping up more often to maintain your preferred pressure.

Or at least that's my understanding.

My backpack Osprey Escape with 3L bladder (1L for shorter rides, 3L for long ones), also contains, a spare inner tube (I run tubeless normally), 2 co2 canisters, a small bottle of stans no tubes. tyre levers, multi-tool, compact hybrid pump (air/co2), sram powerlock link and a couple snacks for those longer rides.

Has anyone ever lost anything out of their jersey pockets? I always used to ride with a phone mount on my bike but haven't done that on my new bike as just been putting keys and my phone in my jersey pockets (most have no zips) but quite wary of doing so.

Useful thread as succumbed to n+1 and got a Giant TCR after cycling regularly again for 2.5 years I fancied an upgrade so need to get new kit. Will probably lose "scene" points with a saddle bag and pump mounted to frame but if you ever get any issues I like to be able to get going again.

Properly fitted jersey and nothing will come out of the pockets :)

Been training seriously for 3 years now and done 2 years riding before that. Never once had a situation where I couldn't get going again and I've never used a saddle bag. Only tools and all the things I may need in the jersey pockets.

What I like about a saddle bag is you don't need to think to pack anything, you've always got a spare tube, levers, co2 and a patch kit.
Until you leave it on the bike and take the other bike that day... happened to me today. 10km from home saw myself in a window and realised it was missing...

Lucky I didn’t get a flat, I had a tube and co2 in my pocket as taking an extra one at the moment but no levers or inflator.

I don't care what people think about saddle bags, I prefer it to keeping everything in my pockets. I've got a Lezyne roll caddy which is quite low profile even though it's absolutely rammed with stuff. I forget exactly what's in there as I haven't been riding over winter because I'm a wimp, but I think it's tyre levers, a tube, co2 inflator and a couple of canisters, chain tool, multitool, couple of gloves. I like it because it straps to the rails tight rather than flopping about, and when you actually need to use it you lay it out flat.

I've got a Lezyne caddy sack as well that I put my phone in. I've always been paranoid about my phone when I'm out and for some nonsense reason I think it magically can't escape from my pocket in the caddy sack.

It would offer it some protection if it did come out & it’s pretty waterproof in there.

I lost a mini pump from my pocket, but I’d stuffed it in loosely and it bounced out on a big bump off-road.

a pump, but I was out on the CX bike on not very kind terrain, nothing ever on the road.

I usually just blast a 16gm CO2 cartridge straight in with a one hit type thing: this:
https://www.evanscycles.com/fwe-co2-inflator-with-one-16-gm-co2-cartridges-EV226922

A 16gm cartridge doesn't quite let me get fully up to my desired pressure, or maybe I loose a bit due to the inflator head design, but it's enough to ride on casually until I get home to top up with a regular pump.
I do like the idea of a combo C02/mini pump, but then it wouldn't all fit in my trendy saddle bag, as that also has a spare tube, puncture kit and levers in it, along with the C02 head and 3 cartridges.

That's all I want it for really. Just to get me enough pressure to be able to get home where I can deflate and use my proper floor pump to get it up. I hate those handheld pumps and presta valves are just too flimsy.

One word of warning if you've not used C02 before, don't hold the bare cartridge in your hand when you discharge it, use a rubber sleeve, or just the sleeve of your jacket, or wear a cycling glove or something, as they get very cold very quick and you could end up with your hand stuck to it from a cold burn.

I have of course never done this :D. nope.;)

You see, I know this... but will still do it the first time anyway... :(

Took delivery of the pump linked above this morning. Seems pretty decent for £8.

About as big as an iPhone 11 Pro Max and isn't that heavy with a cartridge installed. I can't imagine it being any fun trying to fully inflate a tyre with the pump part but it would be good enough to pump the tyre up to level you can easily install the tube and a little bit more to make sure a good seal before using the cartridge.
