What do you sound like?

I also get the you sound posh thing.

Once in Orlando, there was someone from Essex and someone from Birmingham and me from Cornwall and I got called posh.

That does sound like an Englishman, Irishman joke though.

I've been told I'm a mix between Geordie and Boro accents.

Same here, I have a Stockton accent which is a mix of Boro and Durham/Geordie. I can defiantly tell if someones from Boro even though its 10 mile down the road sounds more yorkshire if any locals know what I mean.

I often find though that if I am at work and with contractors doing work for us I try to hide my accent a bit as I think it does sound a bit common.

Where in Cornwall do you live to mate?

I live close to Bude, north cornwall.

Also have relatives in both colchester and clacton-on-sea, essex.

a lot of people say I sound like Ewan McGregor.. I ain't recording myself however. This is before he turned all holywood and lost the accent.

people struggle to pinpoint my accent, it doesn't sound normal edinburgh. it somehow means I can pull of a realistic english accent for short periods of time. I ain't an actor either though :p

but a lot of women say I sound like him. normally 'oh oh oh your sound really like... erm who is it...' Ewan? 'thats it!!'

i'd descripe it as soft scottish, properly spoken (ish). its hard to not get lazy.

My accent varies on who I'm talking to, so providing I keep good company I don't sound too bad. It's a North Leeds accent, aka less common and scummy than regular Leeds. It's inbetween Harrogate, York and Leeds, which will mean something to some people.

Will hopefully be moving south after uni, so my accent should pick up.

Good God man, cut your talons

East and West coast do it. Billy Connelly, Robbie Coltrane, those 2 bufty decorators...

Which one are you? lol

I'm sure it's an artisan Southern Scotish thing. My Dad and uncle speak a bit like Coltrane. The more travelled you are you slow down your accent.

I have a mix of Glaswegian and Aberdonian but with a slow Connelly twang. It confuses the heck out of people. Some times I flip between Aberdonian/ Invershnecky and Weegie just for fun.

My old man was from stonehaven, but quite a slow aberdonian tbh. Probably the years he spent in edinburgh. I've got a bit of everything, i slide more into where I am pretty quickly. Cameleon style, i've done it since i was young.

I can't do weegie at all which is odd and i have pals through there i stick out like the proverbial sore thumb, I can do the odd 'ya rockit' but thats it. far too twangy.

nah I sound nothing like coltrane tbh. he's old and more to the weegie. but very artisan i suppose. better than scum scots.

hehehe i like the onion video - couldnt hear it too well cos of the TV then i heard the almight crunch of you taking a bite and I just smirked.

I sound "posh", allegedly.

Same, but then I correct them, since they're usually not familiar with the accent, but it's "educated"

Gah, why is the language judgement backwards in this country? Why are we criticised for speaking correctly, when someone speaking fluent chav doesn't warrant any sort of reaction at all?
