What Do You Want in Half-Life 3?

atleast 20 playable hours, atleast would love more though and not ~10

If each episode works out as 6-7 hours you got your 20 hours :P but for half-life 3 it should be 13-15 otherwise anymore and we'll be waiting even longer for it.

Edit: Father Gregory from Ravenholm needs to make a comeback :D if its still based around Freeman

thats the episodic stuff, which im not part of. so it doesnt count. this was about HL3.
but i dont think they will rush hl3 at all as mentioned above, theyre maing money selling the episodes. but i prefer something to get my teeth into really instead of having 5ish rs every few months :(

Yea it does suck but these episodes may wrap up gordons story but we wont know till there all out. A thing you could do is wait another year when ep 3 is done and buy all 3 eps and play through it all in one go just occasionally going back to steam to launch the next one. Knowing EA they will probably want to release the from hl2 to ep3 on 2 DVD's to make more money.

A game that will pease anybody and stop bitching... yeah right.

Realistically, I don't see HL3, if it does come out, being very different to HL2, except for maybe a new gimmick or two, as a drastic change in style will put off the hardcore fans, which are likely to bring the most money in.

A game that takes more than 3 hrs to complete.

Or if they are gonna give me half a game I don`t want to get charged for "expansion packs" which should be free.

What ever the game is gonna turn out like I guarantee that milking the punters for as much cash as possible comes first.

I don`t think there will ever be a true HL3 for the reasons above.

Agreed there has been nothing drasticaly changing in FPS for years, I think the only way to do a good one is to make a really highly polished one that doesn't fart about.

hl2 really didnt have any of that hl1 feeling, you vs the world and all that. It was some random guys in masks trying their hardest to re-live 1984, then a yawn fest of a drive through some bugs, then its gravity gun and you cant die :/ needless to say, i was dissapointed.

HL3 should dump you back in the middle of it all, everything has gone wrong, you're there to fix it, with some soldiers hell bent on shutting you up.... hard.

Why do people get so uptight about expansion packs?? Valve is a company, and its employees get paid. In order for Valve to survive, they have to make money so these employees continue to get paid. Whats 3-4 hours of gameplay to you is years of research/development/testing time (i'm including original HL2 costs/time), so is it bad that a compnay wants to make some money out of it now its been released???

If my boss asked me to code for free I'd tell him to *** off!

Put it this way:

Hire a DVD for the night = ~£5 for 2 hours
Watch a film at the cinema = ~£8+ for 2 hours
Buy EP1 = £13 for 4 hours (not including unlimited replay value).

Don't forget too that Steam has to be kept running and the developers are constantly fixing things/adding HDR etc (which all costs money).

No brainer IMO

As for HL3, I'd like to see more of the same. HL2 is one of my all time favourites
