What exactly do you get with Amazon Prime ?

personally i love prime,

Amazon has almost everything you can think of at very good prices. Having the ability to order these knowing it will turn up in a day is just fantastic, ok i paid £79 for it but i have ordered something like 70 items this year i think mainly on prime and its paid for itself. I also subscribe to a few delivery's a month for our twins that are coming and on nappys alone we saved loads too.

for sure it depends what you buy and how often but its good value if you consider the video part of it which is ok too

However, in saying all that, I still decided to sign up again at the £59 the other day :D

FFS, mine doesn't run out until January :(

I'm loving the exclusives they're putting out, the last 12 months Bosch, Man In The High Castle, Mr Robot & Hand Of God are worth the £6.50'ish a month charge.

I get great value from Prime, next day, Saturday, Sunday and sometimes even same-day service are all great. Shame Amazon Logistics are complete ****, but to be fair I have only had a couple of hiccups with them being dense in around 2 years.

As far as Video goes, I've used it to watch some good things I otherwise wouldn't have, like a few of the Batman animated movies, Mr. Robot etc. Also with the new "Clarkson/Hammond/May" programme being exclusive next year it's a no brainer for me.

And I get it for £39 per year due to having an .ac.uk email address :D

Just wanted to post here with my experience.

First off I really did want the prime service so as we are nearing Christmas I signed up for the free trial to try and save a little on prime orders. I was also going to buy a amazon show. What a mistake.

ITS A FREE TRIAL!! kept getting messages “your prime services have been suspended, please update your card details to use this service”. My card details are fine as it’s the card I use to order stuff but why would I need to update them for the trial?

Anyway after speaking to them on the phone they said it takes up to 48hrs to activate. So I waited and nothing happened.

I was on the live chat with them last night for over an hour and they kept saying to me to use a different payment method. Why??

I assume it’s for them to take money at earliest opportunity once the free trial has ended but on my device I was unable to change any settings like turn off auto renew or change to a monthly option. I felt like it was going to to automatically charge me £79 once the free 30 days were up which didn’t work as they were suspended.

During the chat I got fed up and asked 1 of the 3 people I chatted to to cancel the prime service which they agreed. Bear in mind I should still have had 25 more days left on the free trial. Lastnight it never got cancelled so I had to go through it all again this morning and finally they cancelled it and my free trial has also gone. This time I asked for a confirmation email and that also worked. What a stressful thing for something so simple.

The video and music services did work for a couple of hours but stopped. My opinion on them is ok from the short time I had to play around. Although you have to pay for music unlimited to get the best from that side of it and the video services the good stuff you had to rent or buy.

Has anyone else had so much hasstle with this?

All I wanted was to be able to control the service myself.

It’s like they hid the options so I couldn’t end it or control what I was going to be charged.

I cancelled mine last month in November - blimey the amount of nag messages I get whilst shopping or via email is beyond unreal. Anything to have me sign up - hell before I get to the checkout point there is a whole webpage asking me if I want Prime. GTFO.

I mainly used the service for next day deliveries, which were becoming anything but and Amazon Video which was just rubbish half the time because it ran in 480p on my Pixel C and Samsung tablets and whilst it ran fine at 1080p on my Roku TV box most videos had no subtitles and I am a subtitles man. I'd get 'free' Kindle books each month I believe, but most of the time these books were part of a series so I ended up not caring.

In the end I was using Amazon less and less. Just last night I ordered a product off Amazon for £20 and used the FREEDELIVERY code. Looks like it is being delivered today, which is nice.

Single best thing about Prime is the 2 hour delivery.

The number of times that the missus and I have been sat at home at 7pm and decided we want a bunch of nibbles to eat, some more milk and some chocolate and couple of bottles of coke and a bottle of whiskey but cant be bothered to go out and get it..so we just whack up the order on the 2 hour delivery slot and bam, 2 hours later geezer turns up at the door with our nibbles and alcohol :)

I'm not in a "Now" area, so cannot benefit from this, but as a package I find Prime well worth it's money.
Lets be honest, they sell everything and are usually very competitive on prices - so next day free delivery on most everything is well worth it. My wife has the same options and other family members can just call me up if they see anything and I'll order and have it sent directly to them.
Their TV interface is dire - and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, but once you do find your way around it there is usually something good to settle down with.

If you ever have any problems with the service, an online chat usually resolves things quickly (I've had replacement items sent with no need to go through the hassle of returning the old item, I've had delivery drivers posting stuff through the letterbox at 10:00pm because they were supposed to deliver earlier and to a different address but failed).
They are also quick to hand out free month extensions to membership if they do mess it up.

I finally got Amazon same day so as long as I order by 12 I get the item between 6-10PM.

I'm expecting PrimeNow soon as a warehouse opened literally 2 miles up the road and another 14 miles down the road in Coventry.

Only recently got Same day delivery, must be that new warehouse SixTwoSix mentioned as I am not far south from Coventry. I use Prime mainly for the quick delivery options, I find Amazon Video so painful to search and use, I tend to avoid it. A shame really.
