What film did you watch last night?

@melmac thanks for the heads up on that film "The Upside", we watched it last night, what a roller coaster of emotions that film was, perhaps more so as it was based on true events. Each of the characters were very well played by the actors and you are right when you mention how engaging it was. Apparently the story was first made into the a French 2011 film The Intouchables. I think that I vaguely remember that from the cover advertising the film several years back, perhaps we'll seek that one out one day. I agree with your 9/10.
The film "Green Book" that you mentioned we had watched a while back, very contrasting characters, so polarised in every respect, who bonded so very much as the story picked up. 7/10 for me - a little slow for the first half or so, iirc.

Had never heard of the Intouchables until Begbie posted. It's one I am definitely going to watch at some stage.

The thing that surprised me most about the Upside is that the amount of genuine laughs I had because I don't find Kevin Hart very funny in his comedy movies.

And, yeah, you recall correctly, the Green Book was extremely slow to start. And I was nearly going to give it a 7/10, but, I liked the ending so much I gave it an 8 :)

Does anybody else get stuck watching some dull and boring horror movie with their partner?

Swear there is no decent unique horrors anymore, just the same bland thing over and over.

It is, and the French movie is better ;)
The French version is in a completely different league. It's brilliant and one of my favourite films :)

I don't watch too many horror films, but ones I genuinely like are Switchblade Romance and A Tale of Two Sisters. So, I recommend those if you've not had a chance to watch them. Also found Don't Breathe quite different.

Same its in my top re-watchable movies. I absolutely love it.

I haven't seen The Upside, I saw it advertised and felt disheartened that's how most are going to see this story. It's just not going to be the same with a famous cast.

Thankfully I had already seen The Untouchables. French language and subtitles aside it was just brilliant and I was surprised to see it was based on a true story at the end. One of my favourites.

Try Possessor, new Brandon Cronenburg ( son of David ) film. I loved it. Dark, gory, unsettling and mad. 10/10

Other recent horror I thought was good:
Hereditary
Possum
Midsomar
Kill List
Under The Shadow

Tenet 6/10

Unnecessarily complicated, unnecessarily long. An ok film overall and the production values are of course fantastic but it's certainly no Interstellar.

Not worth a second watch though.

Watched at the cinema and i'm itching for a second watch to figure out some of the dialogue :D

I expect everyone will be posting now it's hit 'those' sites ;)

The Handmaiden 9/10.

You can kind of see the twists coming, but I was still suprised. Absoutly outstanding movie. Will watch the extended version in a few years.
