What film did you watch last night?

Easy Rider
7/10
An enjoyable watch and it captures the sixties America feeling very well.

I hadn't realised that there was an early appearance of Jack Nicholson in it too. You can see he was a star ready to shine.

I can well imagine it has aged poorly. Fondly remembered as a teenage boy for the punk girl walking around topless for half the film.

At the start of the movie i thought she looked a terrible mess, like a sex pistols groupie.

Then she got naked and my opinion of her did instantly change as it happens lol

Schindler's List.

What can I say? I honestly can't really think of a fault. I rather embarrassingly didn't know much about it at all before watching, other than it was about Jewish people/WW2, so I was pretty surprised to see Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes pop up, but the acting was first class all around, and the story was engaging and harrowing.

10/10.

Let me preface the following by saying i'm not an Adam Sandler fan, he grates on me and generally don't rate him. With that said, yesterday I watched...

Uncut Gems - 8/10

Sadler plays a New York city jeweler trying to balance people chasing him for significant debts while at the same time trying to pull off a deal of a lifetime.

There is no pre-amble, it throws you straight into it and it's almost overwhelming with dialogue. The intensity doesn't let up for most of the film and while he's not exactly a decent person, you are really rooting for him by the end. Best review I read says it better than I ever could:

They should hand out high-grade blood pressure meds to people going to see this after it ends. The major strength and in a way the slight weakness of Uncut Gems is how laser-focused the Safdies are in conveying total anxiety, stress and mania through this extreme act of full cinema SOUND (levels of acting and over-lapping dialog, that Vangelis-Blade-Runner-on-Steroids/Crystal Meth score, some of the cinematography and the tracking of the camera).

I do wish there was a little more than just flourishes of relief, though I'd be lying if I said Sandler was anything but exceptional and riveting playing degenerate crumbling right before our eyes.

I’m watching The Dig on Netflix. As going to Suffolk later this week and to Sutton Hoo. Some errors such as a postbox with modern collection time plate, radio comes on immediately when switched on (valve radios took several seconds to warm up) and Carey Mulligan is about 20 years younger than Edith Pretty was in 1939.

Good dramatisation, cinematography etc. 7/10

Outrageous!

Watched Suicide Squad 2 on Saturday. Honestly have no idea how this is getting so much praise over the first one. Its really not much better. 5/10 for the first one and 6/10 for this one. Still feels like its trying waaaay too hard to be cool and edgy and just comes off a bit naff.

Yeah. The latest Suicide Squad was pants I thought. Nothing remotely cool or fun about it

Likewise I watched it last night to take my mind off returning to work after holiday. Stopped me thinking about work for two hours but that's about it. 3/10

Watched this a couple of months ago and thought it was charming and excellent. The continuity fails didn't bother me, I just enjoyed it. 8/10

pulp fiction 7/10.

Ha! I just watched Kill Bill Vol 1 last night - don't know why, just fancied it!

7.5/10 - however, i think i enjoyed it more the first time around. Lots of cheesy dialogue and Uma wasn't as good as i remembered, but still an awesome movie.

Vol 2 tonight :)

I thought the first one was excellent but was disappointed with the second for not having enough fight scenes.

i felt the same about Pulp fiction. enjoyed it a lot more first time round.
i couldnt sit through the Kill Bill films myself.

I quite enjoyed Uncut Gems but it's one of those films I couldn't watch again.

Bit of an anxiety-inducing and emotional rollercoaster. I seem to remember I was quite drained by the end of it.

Criminal.

A bit cheesy but overall a good fun action movie.

Kind of reminded me of The Rock's plot with a bit of the Edward Snowden plot thrown in too.

Always enjoy seeing Kevin Costner as I think he is a really great actor.

Loved recognising the areas of London I've walked down when I lived there.

6/10

Did you know that David Carradine died from autoerotic asphyxiation?
