What film did you watch last night?

Armour 3/10
(Amazon prime video)

Even Sylvester Stallone couldn't save this from being a completely forgettable action thriller.

Fortunately it was only 90mins so served a purpose to fill what time we had last night.

Havoc on Netflix, Love the Raid movies so I am always looking for the next Gareth Evans project. This continues the Hollywood trend of using CGI for everything and using poor CGI at that, plus the rather uninspiring acting doesn't help either. The movie even started off very slowly and doesn't really get doing till towards the end.

Just very average, you wont be remembering this film in a few months time.

Havoc (2025)

The opening car chase reminded me of video game cut scene. The vehicle movement was very unrealistic and pretty low quality. As was all the CGI used throughout the film, even the "set dressing" of some of the outdoor scenes looked really fake. The shakey camera movent became very tiresome as the film went on. And somehow Tom Hardy managed to mumble incoherently, to a point were his Bain performance was easier to understand than this one.

On a plus note, the fight choreography was top notch and if you like OTT Tarantino Kill Bill/Django gory then this is definitely the film for you.

5/10

Havoc
Showed promise, but fell at most hurdles
- Fake CGI
- Girl Bosses
- Tom Hardy playing hapless/pathetic character

Its' just so formulaic and unnatural that it just die'd on its feet..

It's redeeming feature was an OK story.

5/10 at best

Novocaine
Slightly less formulaic and seemed a better story.
6.5/10

Shazam Fury of the Gods. I liked the first film, this one I did not. Helen Mirren & Lucy Liu must've thought ' Easy Money' 2/10.

My thoughts exactly, plus too much shaky camera.

The Return of the king!

I win. You can close this thread now. As I’ve forgotten older and become a father Theoden has slowly become my favourite character from the films and after meeting Bernard Hill I get even more emotional from his epic scenes!!

Arise, arise, Riders of Théoden!
Fell deeds awake: fire and slaughter!
spear shall be shaken, shield be splintered,
a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises!
Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor!

The Dark and the Wicked (2020)

I thought this was a pretty good horror film. While it'll win few awards for originality, it still managed to make your skin crawl and give you the hebbie jebbies. Most of which it did without being gory or relying on jump scares. It also came in at a very lean 95 minutes.

7/10

Havoc

If you thought stormtroopers had bad aim, then be prepared for an entire army equipped with Ozzies to miss every main character constantly.

Drop - 6/10

Think Red Eye and Phonebooth. Was really enjoying it up until the last 15-20 minutes where characters just made stupid decisions. Would have been 8/10 otherwise.

Sister has just immobilised villain so runs upstairs instead of out the front door?

You have the drop on him with glass shard so just the leg even though you are still able to move about freely?

Villain now has sister on the floor in front with instructions to kill so shoots her in the shoulder at point blank range?

An overall thing that I didn't mind much but reflecting back, guy trying to start new relationship with impending informant testimony incoming knowing he was in a dangerous situation.

A few major points which somewhat ruined a great thriller until that point.
